– PWInsider recently interviewed Nikki Bella over the weekend at the One World Observatory, where she and other WWE Superstars surprised families for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. During the interview, Nikki Bella credited Total Divas as starting the women’s wrestling revolution going on in the WWE. Below are some highlights.

Nikki on if she believes Total Divas gets enough credit for helping cultivate and grow the fan demographic for female WWE Superstars:“Absolutely not, I don’t think it does at all. What is unfortunate is that when Total Divas was succeeding and we became a hit reality show, they let people with a mic in the ring just bash it and us Total Divas never got a response. So, with the fans, it began to give Total Divas a bad name, ‘Oh, they are just reality stars.’ Actually, while the girls who aren’t on the reality show are just wrestling, us girls on the reality show are wrestling, are filming, are never sleeping, going to appearances, making sure that the world knows how amazing women wrestlers are. So, I don’t feel Total Divas gets enough credit because the words ‘reality show’ has ruined it for people. It think certain people also, characters for the company, have ruined it as well out of pure jealousy. I’ll admit that.”

Bella on how the show helped start the women’s revolution: “I think [Total Divas] helped start the women’s revolution. Total Divas [led to] more women started coming to our show, like, ‘I gotta check this out.’ I remember when Brie was fighting Stephanie McMahon, so many women showed up because they were like, ‘I can’t believe she’s fighting her boss, Oh My Gosh!’ It was crazy for them to even imagine, like, ‘She’s Gonna hit her? Like, This is nuts!’ and so I think Total Divas has done so much for women’s wrestling. It was the first time that we got an hour of TV to ourselves, to really showcase what women do.”

Anyone who tries to deny Total Divas bringing in female fans is delusional

This breh I use to work with, his wife use to watch Total Divas and she had literally no interest in Wrestling and she loves the show and still has no interesting in wrestling. :pachaha:

Any reality show where women are the main focus of the show, women will watch.

Meltzer touched on this a few times. The total diva audience didn't really carry over to Raw or SD.

This bytch retarded. When people talk about the "women's revolution" they are talking about that perioid when Banks and Biscuit had their classic match and shyt like that..before it got ruined and watered down and both Banks and Biscuit are catching boo's now. Nobody cares about this ho from pillowfight matches bringing in a few women to diminishing audiences

She's right

Whether you like it or not Total Divas was a big part in bringing more female fans.

Total Divas got alot of the tumblr fanbase into wrestling too :dead:

More like it was the show on E Sunday's following the Kardashians, in which women will watch that and never in their life watch wrestling

Women's Revolution = more of a focus on the in-ring product

Total Divas did create its own fan base but I don't think that helped start the Revolution. The NXT 4 horsewomen having great matches in developmental and being called up did.

Look at the first two Wrestlemanias during TD. WM29 had zero women's matches and WM30 had a battle royale where fans chanted "we don't care." There was no urgency to have the Bella's to have matches just because they were on TD and had a large following.
