Chixtape 4 .....just 6 songs in :wow:

If he had solid vocal range he'd be serious competition for all these RnB cats

Chixtape 4 is :wow:....It makes me realize how superb early-mid 00's R&B was. Hearing the flip on One Call Away brought back so many memories..that was my shyt back in the day.
Tory might have the best ear in the game right now and has it been confirmed yet that Tory Lanez & Play Picasso are the same person? :jbhmm:

You can't find any info on his producer at all...that's strange.

As much as a Lanez stan I am, I agree on that point. BUT a lot of his competition as far as "RnB cats" go aren't as consistent as he is and their vocal range ain't all that anyway. IIRC he's selling more than guys like PND and Ty$ so he's already serious competition in that aspect.

I stand by that shyt. Sonny Diamonds was his last real in-house producer, after Chixtape 2 you can tell that he started taking full control of his music.

But apparently a coli breh co-produced these projects so maybe he could chime in :jbhmm:

PND will always be just a shell of an artist being under Drake

Ty dollar Sign seems to have gone backwards.... Free TC was perfect
even had some Kellz type songs on there when compared to Campaign

His competition would be August Alsina, Trey and Bryson Tiller ...and he'd possibly sell more records no ?

His work ethic is evident, he's increasing his popularity with every project. I don't see why he wouldn't sell more records than those guys, Trey wouldn't be his competition though they aren't contemporaries

I can't even think of the last time August dropped something worthwhile. :patrice:

PND is how Weeknd/Bryson would have ended up if they signed the paperwork :skip:
You might be right about Trey and these other guys in that lane because Tory lacks club-RnB songs:jbhmm:

he can definitely hang with them on the lovey dovey tip but he's not fully selling out ....i wonder why ?

August switched from thot anthems and hood ballads to being more introspective with his content

This won't get no love at the club

Ok, just gave Chixape 4 a listen so far. That proud family sample :whoo:

It's so evident that 90s-00s R&B was such a driving force....

I will say this though...

Torey Lanez and Bryson Tiller sound sooo alike. I think this R&B "TrapHighSoul" feel can get very repetitive in its beats.

Toronto is really making some waves in the industry I will say. I'll have to give this tape a proper listen in a few.

Party, Frank and Weeknd. Maybe even Bryson are all so far ahead of Tory creatively.

You guys getting hard over somebody making weaker versions of already classic music for real ?

Weeknd, yes. No to PND, I don't really bang with Frank so I can't speak on him.

Tiller I can accept that. I think Tiller really pioneered this sound to a degree. I just appreciate the samples on the mixtape. I'm very biased to a soulful sample I will say.
