I love 80s music

but the album is subpar, like most of his material he has good songs here and there, but a lot of the material is generic, yet and still he’s been my fav r&b artist out of the new batch of singers for a while now

If you're talking about the lyrics and subject matter, yeah, but after seeing Tory's process and focus in the studio I changed my mind about how I felt about it. He's all about capturing the sound and emotion of the songs now, rather than just telling a story. If you look at his earlier work, that's all he used to do, tell stories within the music, but he's now shifted that focus to just wanting to make people feel good when they hear his music and singing along.

I saw it as maturity in the craft, but some may see it as a dumbing it down and I can't blame them.
