Easiest way to understand what's going on: there's a growing sentiment that black men - specifically straight black men - do not count as being black people. We're seen as little more than useless oppressors, abusers, and brutes who need to be removed from society in order to save the Real Black People (black women, queer black people). Whether that's via police or school (suspensions) or lack of opportunity, there's a clear agenda at work. Now do I think this is some massive thing that most black women are involved in? Of course not. I doubt it's a major percentage. But the problem is that the percentage goes up in certain areas, like academia and legal circles. And I definitely think this is one of the reasons boys in general - not just black boys - are struggling in school right now. They're being pushed out, suspended for trivial things, and considered to be problems that need to be solved rather than...you know...children.
They don't think black men are marginalized. It's clear as day. Hell a couple years ago you could say "the only use black men have to them is as dead bodies to build their social justice platforms on top of." Now I'm not even sure that's the case, given the resentment and anger these groups are displaying (online) towards George Floyd and similar victims. They want black women to be the face of police murder now.
