List of WWE United States Champions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rick Rude and Stunning Steve had longer reigns than Luger's longest and Luger rarely put on a good match. He was Cena before Cena, without good mic work or fan fare, the same typical move pattern every match got tiring. He was awful at selling too and led the league in botches.

:leostare: So this young man, to disprove my point posted a wiki link to the history of the us title :snoop:

then made the statement that Austin and Rude had longer reigns than Luger but in the link HE posted he states 'Luger holds the record for longest reign, with his third reign lasting a total of 523 days.' :beli:

:rudy: kids these days

:smugfavre: I may have missed that.

You right.

But my point holds on Luger...I must have overlooked it cuz it was 1989..I just scanned to the 90's.

:manny:

Luger is still garbage though. He was over because of the Torture Rack and that was it.

lol at may have missed that.

your "point" holds no water, anyone who actually saw nwa/wcw during that time knows luger wasn't over because of the damn torture rack. Say he wasn't a great worker fine, say he wasn't great on the mic fine, but for whatever reasons Luger stayed over in the 80s, and even in the mid 90s during the nwo run he was massively over. Luger is the GOAT US Champion :win:

They got it right with the top 2. Either Sting or Flair should have been #1. It's good that Vince is showing Sting that respect, considering Sting's never wrestled for Vince. I see that Vince would go to any length not to mention Chris Benoit (not that I blame Vince). Put Rodman in the list over him.

I won't dispute your point about Luger in the 80's..I was too young to watch..but in the mid 90's nWo run, he was over first because he was one of the last "big" WCW guys left, then because he joined the Wolfpack early as a babyface and was key in bringing Sting in...the fans just wanted to see the Wolfpack go over the White and Black and were riveted to the Sting saga in between.

He was just a big leech. You're telling me Luger was really over on his own? Like people would go to see Luger? :leostare:

I guess he was somewhat credible as a US Champ..but seeing that list, there are many other wrestlers that I would consider to be better than Luger.

In 1993, I was a young child, who was obsessed with watching wrestling. I was a mark. I saw Luger (then the Narcissist) in an airport in full wrestling attire, and wasn't even excited. I asked my Dad where Razor was..:yeshrug:

I can't really imagine that anyone was a big Luger fan...though he had his moments due to booking.

Dennis Rodman and Eric Bischoff shouldn't be on the list.

La Parka should have been on that list.

Scott Hall is placed WAAAAY too high.

X-Pac should have been on that list. In a short period of time dude actually had a good string of matches.

There's a obvious name that's missing from that list is Benoit, but that's to be expected. If Vince had a time machine he'd erase that muthafukka Back to the future style.

Lex Luger was over as hell, his match vs Hogan at the Palace or Joe Louis where he won the belt is better than most guy's career highlights.

Goldberg was bigger and drew more money than Sting.

Luger def. was one of those key WCW stars... matter fact, all the way up until he won the title in '91, people were pullin' for him to win it for like three years. Crowds got pissed off when he'd challenge Flair, come so close and not win it. There was a time in '89 when they turned him heel and the fans refused to boo him. Also when he came back in '95, people INSTANTLY started givin' a fukk about him more than they did when he was in the WWF. He def. has to go down as one of the WCW's biggest/best names.

The top 2 is dead on point of course. Flair was the heart of WCW, and Sting was the one that never left and was a star from the day he got there to the end.

Someone said Goldberg was more popular and drew more than Sting... yeah, in '98. Sting went the distance and was never NOT over. The Goldberg situation was a big deal, but it pretty much died soon as he lost a match. Sting could be wrestling the 3rd match on the show against The Barbarian and still be over as fukk.

Somebody said Z-Man??? :pachaha:

Luger was the greatest US Champion ever and was always over. fukk a work rate.

Yep, Luger was great until he got lazy at the end of his first WCW run. I know he's one of the guys you're supposed to blindly hate if you post on the net, but he's always been one of my faves.

They got #1 right of course and the next two? Ok..but there's some problems. Nash is WAY too high and I don't see him being more influential than Hall no matter how many jobs Hall did. Kidman@ 29? Get the fukk outta here...Ron Simmons winning the World title was a big deal but didn't have a better career than fukking Arn Arnderson:laugh: That's crazy. Sid at 14? Suck a dikk. Malenko at #13?:laugh:

Goldberg was bigger and drew more money than Sting.

For one year...he fell off in 1999.
