Louisiana teacher, 27, arrested for sex with boy, 15, apologizes for ‘taking the victim’s innocence’: police
A 27-year-old Louisiana teacher apologized to cops for the "mistake" she made in “taking (a boy’s) innocence” after she was caught having a steamy sex affair with the 15-year-old freshman, police said. Amber Anderson admitted she’d exchanged naked texts and later had sex with the Baton Rouge teen, now 17, during a summer fling in July and August of 2013, according to an affidavit obtained by The Times-Picayune. The victim’s mom actually learned the two were close after searching the boy’s phone in 2013 and called the school to complain. But nothing was done until a friend of the boy told the mom this month the actual extent of the affair, according to the affidavit. "It's always very concerning for detectives when we work the sexual assault cases or sexual cases that involve juveniles, but particularly when we work with a teacher and a student because they are in a roll of authority," Casey Rayborn-Hicks, of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, told WDAM-TV.
The teen victim told cops the two would exchange text messages, which eventually turned sexually graphic as they got closer. Most were sent between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Soon enough, he was walking to fast food joint near his house, where the predatory teacher would pick him up, according to the documents.They’d go back to her house for sex, the boy told cops.The Christian Life Academy teacher was still listed on the school website until Tuesday as a math teacher at the junior high and high school levels, according to the TV station. The Mississippi State University graduate started working at the school in 2012
"I do not know anything about this," Dr. Jere Melilli, a pastor and founder of the academy,
told WDAM. "This is the first day that I have heard anything of this nature. We would have taken care of it then and she would no longer have been working for us that day I heard.”Anderson will be fired, he said. Online records show she’s held at a local bail in lieu of $25,000 bail and faces a felony charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
"We're devastated and yet we are thankful that it has been exposed because that type of thing just cannot be tolerated in an academic setting like this," Melilli said.
