I love Carlito's Way, I remember watching it for the first time around 2000, when i was 14 with my boy, because we loved gangster movies, we loved Pacino, we loved all that 90's and 80's action movies and thriller, and watched bullshyt like Color of Night, classics like Pulp Fiction and Scream, we lived for Blockbuster.

Now, I'm older, and I get way more out of it and I have this fear of going out like Carlito, not killed, but for all his strengths, he was arrogant, and he got soft. Had he just embraced Benny Blanco, he would have had a friend for life, a simple conversation, and some charm. That's all. But, his self hatred and delusion was too strong. It's all in this one scene. It's his ego, and sets in motion this whole downfall. It really begins earlier at the scene where he declines the drink, but this was the crossroads.

Then, all he had to do was just kill him. But, he couldn't do it, again, he saw himself as Benny, and showed mercy.

And let himself get blinded by loyalty and a code, ended up on that boat with David. The game is like that, you lose the focus, lose your way. And go out bad.

The slow build up of anger....his eye contact....the actress is what made the scene though, tbh
Not...really

In one scene he goes from anger/annoyance, to rage, to manipulation and deceit, to betrayal, to actually being hurt and like the worst pain in his life, to supreme rage....half silent thru the scene, in just his face.

It's the best acted scene ever to me :hubie:

Keaton did a good job showing her disbelief, but giving her credit for that scene is legit ridiculous.

3. Godfather 1 - moe green

He truly FEELS like the boss here finally. He punked the shyt out of Moe green, and flexed on Johnny Fontane's weak ass. And put Fredo in his place and warned him...when he looks up from the chair he looks like the devil...speaking of:

"You straightened my brother out?"
Cold, subtle anger. Didn't need to raise his voice. Didn't need to make any exaggerated gestures. Just a single line to show where he was in his life at that point. Pure boss shyt. Moe Greene was fukked either way but that sealed any chance he had of living through the end of the movie.

Greene was dead right there.

Sidebar: I fukkin' love Moe Greene. I would take an entire Moe Greene movie in that era as a godfather side story. It's basically Casino, but Moe green has 1 scene and is one of the most memorable characters in the entire trilogy.
