I agree that you can’t teach mental toughness. If he doesn’t have it he doesn’t have it. You can however teach players to make better decisions. Siakam doesn’t know what good shots look like. He could make his life a lot easier if he developed a jab step mid-range jumper that he could rely on. Dribbling isn’t his thing and I doubt it ever will be. So play from triple threat and get your buckets that way. He trying to be Durant when he needs to be more Jamal Mashburn.
Btw I’m not saying he gonna morph into a first option, I’m saying he can be at least as good as Derozan was in terms of impact which would be great because then we could trade him for something of value.
Thats other thing he overdribbles the ball,way too much starting from the perimter when he cant get separation off the dribble and we allow him to bring the ball up the floor way too much,it doesnt give us an advantage so why do it ??? He wastes so much energy dribbling the ball on the perimeter and going nowhere.
