Just watched it again over the weekend and I still love it. It doesn't have the emotional drive that the first had, which is why I still say 1 is better than 2, but it makes up for that with the world building and adding to the mythology of this world of assassins while also really putting John's feet to the fire
The world building was absurdly dumb.

Homeless society of assassin's :stopitslime: shyt went too far. Made what was actual well world building in the first into complete over the top cheese.

And the action got way too repetitive.

I see top European publications putting Moonlight on their best of 2017. Makes no sense. It won the oscar for 2016.

that's like me putting The Revenant as a 2016 movie since that's when I saw it.
Some movies still don't get simultaneous worldwide releases - why would a European publication base its list on American release dates :mindblown:

Moonlight and La La Land were both January 2017 releases where I'm at :yeshrug:

Train to Busan was March, I saw that shyt in April :mjlol:

Then they should wait till February to do the year and lists like we do on the site.

The Post doesn't come out till Friday but am I going to consider it a 2018 release if I love it? No because it is contending among the 2017 Oscar race.

Between major theater releases and Netflix exclusives, this has been maybe my most active year as a filmgoer. However, this thread makes me realize there’s been quite a bit I’ve missed out on as well, like I, Tanya, Wind River, The Shape of Water, etc. so I’m gonna go check some of these titles out before finalizing my list :ehh:

In no particular order:

Phantom Thread
The Florida Project
Foxtrot
Raw
Thelma
The Killing of a Sacred Deer
A Ghost Story
I Am Not a Witch
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

There's definitely some I could swap out for others, and others that I haven't seen yet, but that's my list at the moment.
Adding "The Shape of Water" to this list. del Toro does it again. :wow:
