The Motto was dope and who else in rap was putting on for Mac Drey

Your dikk riding knows no bounds :snoop:

TONS of people did before Drake....I don't want to name them all but I'll just leave this video here, a rapper from Queens, showing him love before The Motto even came out...I could post tons of other examples but I'll just start here....

And that difference is what exactly?

it's obvious to the point where i don't even need to explain
if you don't see it then i can't help you

Drake does what Jay does, it's biting not homage

there are moments where other rappers should be called out on it but aren't

Meeks was clearly inspired from Notorious Thugs
he used the flow (not on the whole song tho only the ending of his verses) but the 2 songs aren't even comparable besides that

and show me some Cole lines that you're talking about

That's just off the top of my head

Jay and Drake get criticized for doing less than what Meek did in that song

Meek didn't bite lines though
you know how many people borrow flows? you think everyone is making new flows every song, and it was literally for like 5 seconds at a time

now why would you give me songs and not lines

if I start my song off like this

Picture me rollin in my 500 benz
i got no love fo these nikkas, theres no need to be friends

and i use the flow...
i'm biting unless the song is a song about 2Pac

now if i use the flow at the end of my verses and say something like "Picture Me Rollin" at the end
that's homage or recycling but not biting

you're not taking his line and using it like it's yours, you're showing respect

i can't take a nikkas whole verse, but i can borrow a phrase or line

plus the way you use it can determine whether you're biting or not

like when Jay uses BIGs lines, if i never heard the song i would think it was his

but if I said something like "Picture Me Rollin like i'm 2Pac" or My Ambitionz Az a Ridah Rest in Peace Pac
then you're making it obvious where it came from

Jay and Drake get criticized for using flows all the time

Flow and lyrics are interchangeable with my larger point

It is based on logic, the shyt you're comparing is apples and oranges. Snoop got lauded because he didn't run the "remake" concept into the ground. Jay got called out because he was taking lines left and right. Drake gets called out because....well, do I need to explain that?

shyt is not nearly as random or contradictory as you're making it seem.

Fred.
Ehh, what other songs has drake lifted lyrics and verses? I don't remember off top. Secondly, it is biased, he's the top dog right now, KRIT has done this in plenty of songs without the backlash, people see it as what it is, paying homage. Drake does it, it's a reason to hate...so, yea, it is pretty much pick and choose.

Rappers been lifting flows/lyrics/stanzas/melodies directly from other rappers and songs point blank since the dawn of time. shyt is legit silly to act like its a sin, especially when original content from them outweighs "paying homage" 10:1

Let's say there's 10 things an artist shouldn't do. Or that would rub people the wrong way. If Drake did 1-2, no problem. Drake does 8/10.

Dude doesn't write his own lyrics, has people like DRAM accusing him of stealing his shyt, has people like Rappin' 4-Tay calling him out for stealing lyrics, has people like Weeknd saying he literally gave him half of his best album....never mind the infamous "tent" interview....never mind Mo-G....at this point anything negative isn't hate, it's a pattern. If you can name multiple things KRIT does, that would contribute to people thinking he's a clown, please do.

I agree with all that shyt about Drake, but again, he could do all that and be a B/C-list rapper and it wouldn't be an issue the way it is because he's #1 in the game. That's hate, clearly the masses let this shyt slide for him to be in this position, then they wanna be mad at the same time :swaggywhat: ...get over yourselves (not you in particular). And this is coming from someone who has never understood the Drake phenomenon/a part-time Drake hater my damn self.

If he was a B/C tier rapper half of this shyt wouldn't come to light though, so it goes both ways. If Weeknd gave half his album to Slim Jesus and it sold 15,000 I doubt it would be newsworthy.

And his fan base called the DA on Meek, of course they over look literally anything he does. They're basically a cult at this point.
