Aren’t hits the only thing that matters? Muni long doesn’t breakthrough without Hours and hours blowing up on TikTok

I would argue the only reason we still have album is because advances are structured around them
Matter to who?
Not me, I haven’t listened or looked for hits for years.

Some of the biggest artists don’t even put out hits. But why would I care about how big an artist is, “what they eat don’t make me shyt”.

I don’t believe anything is black or white, there’s a million ways to do it.

Did u consider Ashanti to be a “superstar”? Foolish was the biggest song in America for ten weeks in 2002 and Her debut did 500 K which was the highest debut first week in history for a female artist

Yes, I consider Ashanti to be a "superstar"

This is why I don't get the Summer Walker comparison. Even in her era with streaming, Summer isn't putting up those stats, yet people are arguing that she's the Ashanti of her era. She's being outstreamed by artists who haven't put out an album in years. In 2002, Ashanti wasn't being outsold by female artists' albums that had been out for years.

And the average person does not have this time. Between working longer hours and kids, folks don’t have time to go digging for new shyt, especially when that’s the ask any time you open Spotify or Netflix or look for a book on your Kindle, etc. access to everything doesn’t make things better for most people
It is what it is at that point:manny:

We're in the age where you will curate your media feed or it will be curated for you:manny:

This really is what is at the core of it because I'm now pretty certain the internet was a weapon unleashed upon the consciousness of humanity and like most poisons is very sweet to the senses whilst being destructive to the system. All you have to do is look at whats happened to the world, especially in terms of creativity and it becomes Self evident that its almost vampiric in its nature and essence but that is a deeper topic.

Crazy cause I JUST had a 3 hour discussion with someone on Sunday about this kinda shyt.

Thundercat and Steve Lacey fukk with each other heavy though.
Steve came out to Thundercats performance out here in Cali last year.

Actually mad Cali cats came out and Thundercat showed love to everybody.
Like Channel Tres for example.

I mean we have access to millions of songs and artists, but there’s still a small amount of stars out here.. You have the artists that will stay around for years and the interchangeable one hit wonders. I mean there are so many artists with talent that have been left behind, it happened back in the day also, but you’d think it would be better now. We have people saying in threads that “r&b is dead” and all that.. Man there’s some amazing r&b being made right now.. You’d never know it though until you come across that music in an algorithm years after the great music drops.

I found these artists with the “there is good music, you just have to find it” method that people talk about here. Imagine if people like this had a song played on radio, or was put on one of these big playlists.. They could be outta here.

Especially Zilo.

What an amazing artist she is.

This is a separate discussion because R&B can’t get on the rap playlist

I discover some great R&B every week that I know not many people are listening too

Can't stand when artists force fans to sing along ..especially when they know they don't got the juice like that.

The Weeknd used to cut 'The hills' off like 2 times in a row right before the beat dropped because the fans weren't into it enough :mjlol:

Big Sean did the same shyt on 'Alll Me' he'd restart the song if the fans didn't bring the energy.
It's like you gotta do your job to get the fans hype and into the show...it's crowd control.

Motherfukkers want the fans to be energetic 100% with no work

Just saw this and smh. Steve is an actually a dope artist. This song is #1 because of people playing it so many times on TikTok.

His music is trash and guitar playing skills are Lil Wayne during his rebirth era :scust:
:mjlol: yeah right. Wayne wishes he could play/produce like this

There are a lot of overblown fears in this thread about A.I.

So much of current music heavily uses computers and yet, all kinds of unique and great
artists have come to the surface.

People had the same fears when it came to Drum machines and Synthesizers and the genres that utilize
them heavy (basically all of EDM, Hip-Hop included).

Imagine someone telling J. Dilla or Pete Rock that their machines meant they couldn't make "Real" Music that
people would "Feel". :pachaha:
