I just got back from San Diego, breh is definitely appreciated out there. Street by Petco Park is named after him, he has a statue there, and I saw another statue in Poway a city outside of SD, at one of the parks.

There might be even more than I saw, lol

Only two things you'll get all native San Diegans to agree on:

1. Tony Gwynn is a hero.
2. Our Mexican food is the best in the country.

Like I said before the most amazing thing about Tony Gwynn to me is that you can’t find anyone who has said a bad word about Tony Gwynn.

The epitome of what a pro athlete should be .

Is he the best hitter ever without question
It’s between him and Ted Williams
(hitting .406 in a season is insane), but looking at these stats I think Gwynn is right there with him.

It sucks he played in the 90s and in a small market. I watched baseball daily during this era and can’t even remember ever seeing him on tv outside of the All Star game). I don’t even think he ever did a Sportscenter ad

Gwynn was making them hits like Michael Jackson in the 80s :wow:

Remember him endorsing those Denny's Grand Slam breakfasts when I was growing up. :wow:

:rip: to one of the GOATs :wow:

I was a kid growing up in San Diego when he was with the Padres, but I was dwelling in the south east.Nobody seemed to give a shyt about baseball.I only remember one Mexican dude in my 3rd grade class rocking a Padres hat.Ever....Other than that, it was all about the Lakers. To a smaller extent, the Chargers.San Diego is more of a transplant city. You were liable to see more Cowboy, Steeler, Raider fans than Charger fans. The city would rally around them during a playoff run, but outside of that;lukewarm interest.
