A little too soon. It's been just what? 15 years?

On the otherside, i'm all for a Tom Cruise/Egypologist series...just call it something else.

so crowe is dr. jekyll/mr hyde
I'm guessing the twist of The mummy is that Cruise is "the mummy"
Who we got for Dracula and Frankenstein's monster

From interviews with Alex Kurtzmann (the dude behind the Mummy and Universal's Monster Movie Universe):

Russel Crowe is Dr. Jekyll and he runs an organization called Prodigium that keeps track of all of the monsters/supernatural shenanigans in this universe. He is basically the Nick Fury of this cinematic universe and his group is SHIELD.

Tom Cruise is cursed by The Mummy which is how he survived the plane crash.

A new Van Helsing movie is up next and will be written by Jon Spaihts (PASSENGERS) and Eric Heisserer (ARRIVAL).

Kurtzmann had this to say about how the monsters will be brought together within the movie universe:
“I’m not going to sit here and pretend I can tell you exactly how [the monsters are] all going to come together. We have a lot of ideas, and a lot of things that are very exciting. But to me, the fun of the promise of bringing them together is that they’re probably going to fukk each other up pretty badly. It’s not going to be a pretty room with those guys in it. And that’s a lot more exciting than people who are going to behave nobly and predictably. It just makes it a more interesting experience, and a more interesting prospect.

“But how do you get them to work together?” I don’t know yet. I can’t tell you. But I can tell you that it’s not going to be boring. And it’s not going to feel familiar. And figuring out a way for those guys to get along, is the challenge. But also, to what end? Why would you bring them together? There has to be some kind of unifying reason if you’re going to do that.

And by the way, maybe they don’t all come together in one movie. We’re not necessarily going to do The Avengers. There might be reasons for this character and that character to come together because the story tells us that’s what the story wants. The story is what drives the choice. And if down the line, there’s a big reason to bring them together, then great. But I promise we’re not starting there.

going off what that dude said:

so the monsters in this monster universe are gonna be like comic book anti-heroes?...and eventually group up for a cause?....lol get the fukk outta here.....they dont need to be teaming up to do good...they need to be teaming up to fukk shyt up, scare the shyt outta humans, etc., you know, be monsters....

also, he said it's not gonna feel familiar...well, he's lied already...that trailer made this movie feel like a familiar action movie...to go along with the rest of what he said, that means the rest of the movies gonna be along the same theme....naw, i'm good...if i wanna see comic book characters, i'll just watch comic book movies, not monsters pretending to be anti-heroes....

Well there is precedent for these Universal monsters teaming up and they weren't heroes in those instances. There were always human heroes fighting against the monsters and of course the monsters eventually turned on one another.
So you'll have Tom Cruise type heroes fighting the combined monsters who are out to do some horrible shyt.

going by what he said, besides each other, it doesnt seem like they gonna be fukking shyt up....it seems they gonna team up to fight something else...which isnt cool to me...they are monsters, so let them be monsters...that trailer doesnt give off any type of monster movie vibe...it's a straight action flick...

This part of the quote seems to being saying something different:

not really...he just said they not gonna be friendly with each other when he gets them together, not that they arent gonna be doing good and/or fukking shyt/humans up...i take it as it's gonna be like thor/hulk fighting all the time while they alone and together, but still teaming up to stop the big bad whatever....cause if you continue with the quote:

...alludes to that...

Maybe a new monster appears to take over the earth and is taking out the old guys one by one or absorbing their power??

I like the idea when drac was involved cuz i liked the story and actor. Would hate if they scrap that altogether and get a goofy count chocula

that still makes them anti-hero types, which monsters shouldnt be....they are monsters, so they should be monsters....let them be villains, but since this is their universe, let them win.....make the movies horror movie vibed with drac fukking shyt up over here, mummy fukking shyt over there, frankenstein's monster over there, wolfman over there, etc...and all this can be going on in the same universe/world...when they cross paths/team-up, make it be to take out the good guys that's trying to stop them, not some bigger, badder, more evil thing....i want them to be monsters god damnit lol...

edit - just thought: they could have it where the movies revolve around a kid...where ever that kid lives, a different monster shows up and shyt happens, including trying to kill the kid....every time the kid moves to get away from one monster, another shows up, and the same thing happens....this keeps happening throughout a couple movies, and in the team up movie, we found out why: the kid can be van helsing (sp) or some other famous monster hunter as a kid....the monsters have been trying to kill him before he grows up and kills them.....so you can get a team of good guys/monster hunters, to protect and try to save the kid, and have them go against a team of monsters....but since this is the monster's universe, i kinda want them to eventually win and kill the kid at the end...
