Actually, go back to 04 with Van Helsing, then Wolfman in 2010 and Dracula Untold in '14, they all were "failed" attempts to revive the Universal Monsters. It's just that this is waaay out of left field and Universal fukked up trying to hype a universe before any money or audience interest was there.
But Van Helsing was
successful, Dracula Untold pretty successful.Mummy was supposed to be the start of something big.
They apparently had Angelina Jolie set to do a Bride of Frankenstein movie.
They deaded all of this because of this movie.
I know they were somewhat successful, but they weren't the hits they needed to be to get sequels. That's why I put failed in quotation marks.
