For some reason, we act like these athletes don't have egos or insecurities or other human problems. The truth is that Brady DOES listen to the criticism. The "game manager" "system QB" "these other guys would have won 10 rings with Belichick" comments do affect him, as
@FabTrey implied.
And they STILL persist. People use intentionally vague or misleading shyt to knock Brady, and that will motivate him. They say he has a "Stacked team" and "good o-lines/defenses" like that doesn't apply to other good QBs like Peyton Manning or Phillip Rivers, and like as if we would call his teams stacked if he didn't play for them.
When you have lofty ambitions and think high of yourself, you will always a) care about what others think of you, and b) only nothing short of the best will satisfy you. Especially when that ambition is your passion. If you pour your heart and soul into something, you wanna be exceptional at it, and be the best, and have others take notice.
A lot of GOATS are known for being petty or insecure - Jordan, Brady, LeBron.
Because that helps fuel you. If you know you're the GOAT, and believe you're the GOAT, you work for it, and you have to prove yourself to others so they can
recognize and
treat you as the GOAT.
People make fun of LeBron for trying to control the narrative, but shyt, you can't blame him: look at how underhyped guys like Tim Duncan are despite winning 5 rings. If Duncan talked shyt more, and cared what others think, he'd be put in more GOAT debates given his skill.
