You lost if you were even watching WCW at this point anyway

I wouldn't say that... of course the NWO shyt was running its course by then, but this was right after Goldberg's hottest point and they still had a great undercard... this to me was actually where the slope got slippery and shyt never improved after this. It really fell apart rather fast as soon as '98 ended, coming off of Starrcade and into this dumb shyt. Next thing you know, every bad idea imaginable started happening.

its so crazy in hindsight that the NWO split had been building for exactly a year for a Hogan vs Nash face off

Nash was built to be the biggest badd ass anti hero that beat everyone
Got sting and luger to join the NWO wolfpac
Ended Wrath streak(which was building buzz)
Won WW3 with ease
than broke the biggest streak and angle in wrestling

and this was the climax :damn:

Fun fact: This is not what killed WCW. They were still getting very high ratings afterwards, but it was HOEgan's injury during the height of this angle that really hurt the company. They had no plan B so everything just fell apart after HOEgan went down, then when he returned it was too late and the ratings continued to fall.
really they were good for another year it went really bad when Bret got hurt

I thought I'd heard that the idea was having a heel factory to feed to Goldberg but he got injured and that derailed it. But I'd already quit watching by this point so I don't really know :manny:

that was a year later when they were gonna do a New NWO with Bret, Nash and Jarret as the leads but Goldberg punched a car window in a skit and tore his arm apart

Bret was gone
Goldberg was gone
Jeff also got hurt and it left nobody but Sid and Benoit for the tittle

than Benoit wins and shows up on Raw with all the best talent in wcw

and than Hogan walks out for good at bash at the beach 2000

The war was 100% lost by the time Goldberg hurt himself and Benoit left bro. WCW still had diehard fans but overall it wasnt even close. Both in numbers and as a kid at school.

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
Well, it wasn't all for nothing. We got Hulkkk Hoegan walking around in JNCOs for a few months after he joined The Wolfpac that we can laugh about 25 years later. Behold, my fellow Coli brehs & brehettes, here's what a midlife crisis looks like...

Hanging out the Hell's Angels... I see you, Hulkkk.

Sorry, I was too busy watching Mick Foley win the WWF Championship on RAW. :manny:

Have a nice day. :umad:

It’s crazy how both these moments were on the same night such a display of good and bad booking.

I can't lie when I was watching it live as a kid I was hype during that segment

Until Luger turned on Goatberg :mjcry:

I never understood the hate that it got,was it stupid yes of course but it didn't kill WCW

Looking back yea WCW did a lot of stupid things but I still had so much fun watching it growing up

Growing up in the south WCW merchandise was everywhere even gas stations so that was always my favorite company
