To these Black retirees, the federal civil service now under attack was a path to the middle class

When crackas and non-blacks yap about black people being “dependent on government” this is what they referred to.

Really just showcases their lack of resourcefulness and forsight

Two generations back my family became middle class through government gigs and in turn my and the current generation got to where we were by our grandparents work so that we could either go to college or start a lil side business. We ain’t the Warbucks but we is relatively living good.

Thats why I ain’t got time for no “anti-government, tear the system down!” bullshyt. Because these are the everyday people keeping the lights on.

It bothered the fukk out of me when Trump Stans were so quick to tell Black people whose jobs were threatened to just 'find another job'. Right wing messaging through social media has done a number on too many of us.

Woodrow Wilson did this shyt too

This was brought up for months last year while people on this forum laughed, sneered, and ignored the issue. A lot of black people who successfully broke into the middle class (and stayed there) are state and federal workers. From bus drivers to postal workers to security guards to TSA workers. It has been a pretty consistent path to making upwards of six figures. Not anymore, at least not for the next 4 years.

And I guarantee you in 4 years the same people who dismissed this issue will magically re-appear just in time to argue the election doesn't matter for black people.

Comedian Larry Wilmore echoed this sentiment on a CNN discussion I caught this weekend. On some 'back in my day' shyt, but one of the anchors a full generation younger affirmed the same from her own experience.

"IT WAS THE DEMOCRATS" who offered this path, family.
Now we finally see what "tangibles" The Republicans have to offer.

Is what we’ve experienced from Trump so far better than not getting any FBA specific tangibles from the dems?

Those people practice the inverse of white grievance politics. White folks get nothing, but they have a veneer of superiority. Pro-black(internet edition) politics argues we have and gain nothing so if there isnt a home-run windfall politically, whatever happens in the mean time cant be worse than what has already happened.

Short bus ideology.

Yup. I got referred to a GS13 position in Germany a few weeks back. If I get an interview and get an offer, I would decline with a broken heart.
:mjcry:
I’m 39. That would have been my retirement plan. Twenty years then be done with the US. Daughters would hopefully be self sufficient so me and the Wife could retire in Belize.
:to:
They will probably cancel the position. Plus, I’m black anyway. Trump hates our skin.
:gucci:
Three years eleven months left. Unless he figures out a way to punk the system and stay in indefinite.
