I think it's going to be Castle at the #4.

Then at #8 it will be whoever is left out of Buzelis, Williams and Salaun.

I think even if Dillingham is there at #8, the Spurs pass. I just can't see the Spurs taking a PG who will get destroyed on defense by opposing teams.
This except I wouldn't be surprised if they pick Devon Carter at 8

I'm not sold on castle 😐. I like the idea of him, tall guard with playmaker ability but his handle and shooting is a concern. To me a lot of guards who was defensive players in college don't convert like I'd like. He'll Vassell was touted as a defensive stud but hasn't shown that in the league. I haven't given up on Wesley, who can stay in front of his man. I still like Rob despite his defensive limits. Even if he's a future 6th man for us. Besides there's a few great PG prospects next year and the Spurs has another potential 4 frps next year.

If I'm drafting, it's BPA. Hopefully is Rish, but I'm not against trading picks either. I feel the Spurs are going to have to try to develop a lot of players if trades aren't made

I don't know why (maybe it's because I don't want them to do it in a bad draft anyway), but part of me all of a sudden feels like the Spurs consolidate the two picks and and the Charlotte pick to move up.
In such a weak draft it just doesn't seem to make sense to trade up.

Trade up for who?

Everyone has question marks.
This draft is so flat that the 10th pick could wind up being better than the first 9 guys taken.

Who the hell can tell?

he should. Spurs been behind the 3 point trend for god knows how long
Maybe since 2014.
They won the chip with great ball movement and great shooting.

Since then, the Warriors took it to 11, and the entire league sprinted after them.

The Spurs didn't. And to be fair, they didn't need to. They were still good defensively and could succeed playing a slower, grind it out kind of style.

But that hasn't been effective for a while now. Spurs pacing has picked up in recent years. The defense has been awful. And the 3 pt shooting has neither been great...nor has it come at a high enough volume....well, except for this past season where they did shoot more 3s, but didn't make very many of them.

agreed.

The beat the 3 point chucking suns and the D'antoni Rockets in 2017. But since Kawhi left, they've been towards the bottom of the league in shooting. Yeah they did shoot more 3's this season, but they were making them

It's why i think they should do what they need to do to get Reed Sheppard. They dont need to take big swings on mystery box project players since they have the GOAT prospect already. Just surround Wemby with guys that can play

I don't think the Spurs have to go out of their way to get a bunch of 3 points specialists.

Vassell can shoot. You just need another starter who can be solid.

Keldon off the bench is fine from 3.

I don't hate the idea of Sheppard. He's obviously a lights out shooter. But he probably won't ever have the lateral movement to stay in front of NBA Level players.

Whatever. If he's the pick, so be it.

But Devin Carter could also be good enough offensively and you wouldn't have to worry about him defensively like you would with Sheppard or Knecht or even Risacher if he fell to #4.

You're prolly right. I don't study the draft or college players too much. I just know that Sheppard is ridiculously good at something the spurs have needed for a long time.

Of course, no matter who they draft, that can't be the end of the offseason moves the Spurs make. they have a lot of work to do

I don't think we'll see any blockbuster trades from the Spurs this year. They're going to be intentional in surrounding Vic with talent he can grow with and be a perennial contender. The shooting this team needs will more than likely come from free agency this year.
