that's not true though breh, before the killing of Travyon Martin, user's have been saying this on the internet and in message forums. the purpose of me asking the question in the OP is because people seldom mention their plans to better the community and safeguard their neighborhoods as if when all cops disappear so will criminals and those who prey upon their own people.

and no one is attacking the victims, I even specified to whom I was pointing the question at. I didn't say the victims. why is it if someone asks a question that goes against the common mind set, they are automatically assumed to be on some other shyt? smh

Anyway...I'm not the best person to answer this question because I (as a rational person) see the need of police. Criminals come in all colors so we do actually need police officers.

To answer the question YES I could protect my home reasonably "without resorting to violence toward other black men" But if it pops off I can also protect my house by using violence. Why is this question only posed toward protecting the block against black men though? Is there a reason that if the cops were gone, suddenly black men would immediately become outlaws and start attacking other black houses (in your scenario)?

that was what I was getting at. I understand what alot of you users are saying as far as it's not anti-police, it's anti-brutality but when I say I hear people in real life and on the net say shyt like "fukk the police" or every time a new cop is killed you get responses like "fukk the police" and such. what you said about the retaliation factor is one point in which I was trying to see be said.

One user said "of course if everything is legal it would be chaos". yes, but the absent of police doesn't mean the legality of actions, it merely means no one around to enforce the law that is being broken.

If you users believe I'm baiting, then I apologize and please understand that that isn't what I am attempting. I just want to get a discussion going and see where minds are at.

I don't have an issue with the police at large, but I do have a problem with the lack or proper oversight and the lack of conviction over the rotten apples. I personally know that most police officers are decent folks trying to get by just like us but they need to be held to a higher standard because they are in a lot situations where they preside over life and death.

Breh, this is a red herring and a strawman. people arent upset about the justified police activities. Their up set about the unnecessary and unjustified actions. Such as pulling a woman out of her car because she wouldn't put out a cigarette or shoting an unarmed teen anger becuase you're scared of black men.

The answer is no, I literally was in a situation just yesterday where I almost had to use violence against other Black people.

And there wouldn't be anti police attitudes if they weren't killing people with impunity.

You said can we safeguard ourselves without violence
But don't police officers protect themselves and the others they want to protect by violence as well
If this situation were to happen and we couldn't defend ourselves then we would need someone else to do the protecting for us
