It's funny Shredder became the central nemesis of the Turtles, he was originally intended to be a one shot villain.

theyre both masters of the katanna leo wields two swords, miyamoto usagi is a take on miyamoto musashi so hes that dimensions mushashi and whenever they fought they brought out the best in each other,
