I've been peeping this troll posting and I gotta tell you, there's no way any of it is true.

Apparently, this person has a estimated 180 IQ: http://www.thecoli.com/posts/4558120/

That's a rarity of 1 in 3.5 million; someone that gifted should be a tenured professor at MIT working on string theory or some shyt, not posting on the Coli. :comeon:For comparison, I have like a 120 IQ (1 in 9), good enough to succeed in college, but I'm probably as smart as an average Coli poster's "smart friend", definitely nowhere near a world-class scientist.

There are a bunch of strange characteristics this poster has that don't align with his/her supposed background (insanely gifted mind, went to boarding school and to Yale, which, beyond the good education, should've given this person a lot of knowledge of the academic system, different careers, etc.) such as his/her poor grammar and diction, RANDOM capitalization OF words IN POSTS, strange/controversial opinions on nearly everything (often illogical) i.e "Twitter doesn't have many black engineers cuz they're RACIST")
( :usure: Right, that explains it; not a lack of access to Computer Science education and role models in Black communities, the strong competition from top schools in China and India that most Americans (Black or white) can't hang with, and the fact that Twitter has to compete with Wall Street, top grad schools, etc. to get the high achieving black students with like a 3.8 in CS at an Ivy, whereas Mingming and Raj just want to live in the US and will gladly be code monkeys-their English speaking level limits them to that anyway),

But maybe he or she really is a Yale educated genius and also down with the streets :dame: so let's focus on specific posts here.

1) Thinks D- average students at Yale can graduate and that it's possible for a Yale student to get that many D-'s.

So some poster talks about a kid who got into Yale and says he might not end up that successful in life. Amethyst replies:

There are many problems with this.

First, a D- is the lowest passing grade and most reputable schools require a 2.0 (below 2.0 one semester typically means academic probation) to gradate, only grades C- or > are accepted. So in theory you couldn't even graduate with all C- grades since that would net about 1.7, so no, you can't graduate with all D-'s.

Second, if you know anything about elite colleges (besides maybe the hardcore science ones like MIT/Caltech) you'd know that getting a D- average (less than a 1.0 GPA) is next to impossible, you'd have to seriously neglect your courses to do that badly.

The average at Yale is around a 3.5 (Yale University) for several reasons (the kids are all pretty smart, if people can't hang in the hard majors they'll switch to easier ones - which is fine because a BA in sociology from Yale is still worth a lot, and the grade curves are pretty generous allowing most of the class to get a B grade or better).

2) shyts on IT support workers saying they're not software engineers http://www.thecoli.com/posts/15144254/

This is a really stupid post because only the extremely ignorant would ever confuse some guy that hooks up your office internet with some elite Google/Facebook/top startup software engineer clearing $150K+ a year. To even make that comparison you'd have to be some ignorant person putting all jobs related to technology in one basket.

This is like telling me my bank teller isn't a billionaire hedge fund manager.:mjlol:. No shyt. :mjlol:
And s/he said it like as dropping knowledge or shytting on em. :mjlol: Of course they're different they do different things and don't even come from the same path in life.

3) General ignorance of how things work in the academic world

a) Tells some random Coli college kid to apply to Harvard (actually, says "go to Harvard" as if it's a sure thing) for a summer research job like it's not insanely competitive and hard to get even for Harvard students: http://www.thecoli.com/posts/15839376/

b) Suggests that Harvard Extension School (like a night school for working adults in Boston, I guess it runs as a service to the local community and might be better than going to Northeastern for the same thing) is "real Harvard" like it has the same prestige as any other Harvard school (of course it doesn't): http://www.thecoli.com/posts/16254033/
Harvard Extension School résumé guidelines are bogus | Ipso Facto

c) Says s/he wouldn't attend any other private school besides Harvard or Yale: http://www.thecoli.com/posts/14822169/
Like any other famous, well-funded school with world-class faculty and generous financial aid isn't virtually the same thing :comeon: (other Ivy, Stanford, Duke, Chicago, etc.) You'd sooner drop down to a state university than attend Princeton? :dahell:

d) But in that last link, it seems s/he is very passionate and knowledgeable about the problems that HBCU students face trying to get financial aid, you think that may be from personal experience? :jbhmm:

e) Oh and s/he has dated a top 5 math PhD graduate who came from his/her own hood.
http://www.thecoli.com/posts/15884199/
Assuming, he's a brother, do you realize the vast majority of Math grad students are Chinese and European international students?
The odds are just so infinitely small (top math PhD, black, AND from her own town). Even if it was a CAC there aren't many American CACs in these programs either.

4) Won't say what his/her college major was, out of fear of being tested
http://www.thecoli.com/posts/15146665/

Also, the question was exposed as a really basic one: http://www.thecoli.com/threads/amethysts-math-question-is-dumb-as-shyt.369403/
Seems like a better question is, did s/he even go to college? :jbhmm:

@Amethyst
Breh its just thecoli. Who cares bro. I fukk with both of yalls posts.

Neither of your personal lives do shyt for me, so is shes trolling, troll on.

I say intellect is creativity. The more creative a person, the higher the intellect more than likely. Creativity isn't just confined to drawing/portraits either. Math and science takes a LOT of creativity to excel in. Engineering not so much.
That's a first. Why Math and Science, but not Engineering?

One thing that bothers me is that Yale and Harvard are known to grade inflate. How is someone so stupid to not even crack a B- average when the professors actively bump up the grades of the class you are taking?

Well those are only the posters that I personally know about, It's not like everybody who went Ivy League is going to put it in their sig. I'm not sure why it's so unbelievable that the coli would have Ivy League posters, TLR is definitely not one of the smarter sections but if you look at the other sections there's definitely some smart posters on here.

Because it's the coli not Twitter or Instagram. Think of how many people you know that frequent Internet forums now think about how many people attend Ivy League schools.

You're telling me that that a small percentage of people just happen to find their way to some barely known Internet forum? What does your average ivy alumni have in common with the average coli poster? This would be like if Bill Gates invited the janitors of Microsoft for a game of golf.

Well that would make her one of the smartest people alive. Einstein and Hawking have an iq of about 160. One of the world's greatest chess playera has an IQ of 172. Would be incredible if true.

I dont know about the rest of what the OP said, but that 180 IQ shyt is pure :duck:

if you have an 180 IQ, you could effectively call folks in mensa dummies.

That's a first. Why Math and Science, but not Engineering?

I was comparing engineers to physcists and mathematicians. The best engineers I worked with were double majoring in physics.
