I had no interest in the first game because it didn't have a sp campaign :manny:
It's a bad strategy because while it still has all the crazy movement, the shooting doesn't feel like the first one. I bet there are comparisons as to how the shooting sounds and feels. Huge step back in that department IMO.

Just copped the first one for $5 off GP, and will probably just leave it at that unless TF2 makes some big changes to its gameplay mechanics.

Actually the actual gun sounds and shooting feel nicer than I remembered from TF1. Other than that the actual gameplay flow feels kind of soulless. It's like they overthought everything. Big open maps so far just aren't fun. Even calling down a titan isn't as cool as the first one. The game is quiet and lacks excitement plainly speaking.

TF1 just felt fun to play and these maps so far haven't done anything in me. I'll most likely rent this.

The maps are pretty damn meh.

I kind of see what they were going for but you're right it does seem like over thinking. Like they were trying to appeal to everybody in each map. But then the action usually gets bottle necked in choke points anyway and the rest of the map is largely ignored.

Also the maps are way too big for such a small player count.

Maybe the base game has better maps.

Still, it's not bad and since I got it 50% off from an e3 deal I'm gonna keep my pre order.

Seems like the majority of people that didn't play the first like it,and the majority of people that played the first don't like it :jbhmm:

Personally, it's aight. But feels like most other shooters. I'm having trouble seeing why one would play this over other shooters.
Which is why they should have ignored those who dismissed the first one and keep improving on a formula that earned them high critical praise.

It's still fun, I just stopped playing. I am optimistic because I HATED the doom alpha/beta and it turned out to be a great game.

If they bring back Attrition it's a first day cop... :whew:

Pilot Vs. Pilot? I'd rather load up Black Ops 3... :heh:

Time To Kill is too fast for a game like this. All that movement don't mean shyt if you can't outplay someone with your movement to escape. The first game just felt smoother and you could survive longer...

the maps don't promote wall running or simple double jumping in this alpha so to get around/avoid enemy titans you're basically entering buildings and/or looking for cover, or getting to the highest points on the map where its harder than need be to get up to.

Amped Hardpoint is a bad idea for a game thats supposed to be more kinetic than your average shooter. you'll end up spending more time standing around tryna amp a capture point than anything. it should be the opposite where capture times are fast to keep the action going

I predict that the first game will be this series' COD4/MW2. They might never be able to reach that point again with the way this one looks so far.

It can be more polished and ambitious, but will likely not be as fun unfortunately. This has all the looks of a 70-75% rating from the critics with the way things look right now.

That's because the map design doesn't allow much parkour. Now granted I've heard they've been updating and tweaking things, but I found I couldnt chain wall running and boosting into platforms or other areas as smoothly as the first. Felt like I lost traction quick and there's a lot of empty space instead of objects to parkour. So it basically turns into a camp fest. And the modes are awful. Bounty hunt just isn't well thought out. Hard point is whatever just another capture the point mode. Pilot mode always sucked even on the first. The thing is I don't understand why they removed the bots. They made the world more lively and full.

they ain't using the cloud :manny:

bots stay spawning in 2-3 area with canned AI patterns rather than spread all over the map like in the first which made it feel like more of a warzone. couldn't camp in or on buildings cuz them soldiers or spectres would be in there buckin at you. no worse feeling than getting killed by the ai - didn't happen very often but the feeling of never being completely safe and needing to be in constant motion is lost in this game
