Yup.

Interested in what changes their are

Here are the patch notes for the second weekend of Tech Test. Please make sure you install the update to the Tech Test so that you can experience these updates yourself.

TIME TO KILL
  • Amped Weapons Boost now unlocks at 80% of the earn meter instead of 50%.
  • Charge Rifles now have damage falloff at cross map distances.
  • Slightly increased cloak visibility for other Pilots.

We think the abundance of Amped Weapons is a large contributor to lower time to kill. We’re still adjusting individual weapon balance for ship.

MOBILITY
  • Increased max wall-running speed.
  • Increased base wall-running speed and air speed.
  • Increased acceleration while jumping off walls.
  • Titans dashes recharge 2 seconds faster.

Training is unaffected by these changes, ensuring Gauntlet records will remain valid.

TITAN TIMER
  • Pilots now earn a small amount of Titan meter every 5 seconds.

This value may be undertuned until we can take a pass at how much meter you earn from objectives.

BOUNTY HUNT
  • Score Limit lowered to 5000 from 6000 to increase the amount of games won by score instead of time.
  • Banking phases now last 45 seconds instead of a minute.

TECHNICAL FIXES
  • Fixed some issues with the outer deadzone on PlayStation controllers.

We wanted to note and apologize for “Invite Friends” still being broken in this build. We needed to get the patch to certification quickly to ensure gameplay changes could make it in for this weekend, so we couldn’t get to this in time.

AMPED HAPPY HOUR EVENT
Lastly we will be offering players the chance to receive this callsign for launch when you play the Amped Happy Hour event this Saturday. All you need to do is play between the hours of 9-10am PT/5-6pm GMT or 4-5pm PT Saturday/12-1am GMT Sunday and you’ll get this exclusive callsign when Titanfall 2 releases on October 28.

So I have been playing the second phase of the alpha test.

So a few things out of the way:

The gameplay still feels like titanfall, but not as frantic of a pace as the first game due to the maps we have seen so far. For those who have played a lot of the first Titanfall, make sure you set your look-stick aiming to "classic" instead of default. This will make shooting feel a whole lot like the first game...I was wondering why my shooting was off while I was wall-running.

The weapons and everything else don't give off as much feedback as the first game. My main weapon of choice "Spitfire", doesn't feel as powerful as when I was using it. It will take some time to get used to. Maybe more feedback is the answer I am not sure, but it is something that I think Respawn should take a look at. I jumped back into the OG titanfall to see if it was just me...nah, the weapons feel differently. Everything is louder, more vibrant and feels more gritty than this polished "alpha test"

Overall I like it and obviously will keep the pre-orders for both the PS4 and XBOX ONE versions of the game, but I am a little concerned about the small changes. The first titanfall had great maps and the ones I have played on part 2 so far just don't have the same feeling to any of the 24 maps on the original game. This is a huge concern because the team that made the first titanfall had ideas about those maps for years before even getting to work on that first game.

Something tells me that this OG Titanfall will be my favorite shooter this gen by far...2+ years in and nothing else is like it. Yeah Yeah, Respawn can claim "pre-alpha tech test" all they want, but that first game might be their COD 4 or MW2 of this franchise in which they just got the formula just right and might never be able to reach it again.

Playing it for another hour now on the xbox one.

Still curious about how much effort went into the sp campaign
Too much. A lot of the changes were to appease casuals who dismissed it because it was a multiplayer focused game and have pissed off the passionate following the first one had. You had a story play out over online missions which was enough IMO. Watch the intro, play the story missions online and keep it moving. Don't like it? Don't buy it. That first game has a 86+ metacritic score and a loyal following. I bet this game scores in the 70s unless we have similar maps to the first game.

We are 3+ years into this gen and it's becoming clear that the first titanfall is probably the best online FPS this generation. They had a great formula going.

EA apparently hasn't figured out that you can't please everyone. fukking shooting feels like it took notes from battlefield :snoop:

I had no interest in the first game because it didn't have a sp campaign :manny:

They said they're treating TF2 as a new IP

It may be called Titanfall 2, but as far as developers Respawn are concerned, it’s basically its own thing, distinct from the 2014 hit Titanfall in every way- mechanically, narratively, and so on. As far as Respawn are concerned, Titanfall 2 is a brand new concept.

And why, exactly, are they ditching their legacy, which made the first game so successful? Well, as it turns out, the expanded audience that they are targeting with this sequel has something to do with it.

“We’re really excited to welcome back that original Xbox One, 360 and PC audience,” Respawn COO Dusty Welch said in an interview with MCV UK. “But Titanfall 2 is really a new IP at launch if you think about it. The Xbox One install base is two or three times what it was when Titanfall launched, the PC audience continues to grow. Then there’s the PS4 install base, which is enormous. It has a ‘2’ next to its name, but that signifies the dual elements of Titan and Pilot, and the single player and multiplayer.”

Art director Joel Emslie added, “We have to consider that there’s a whole community that haven’t played Titanfall before. That was a challenge for us – how do we make sure that Titanfall 2 is something that anyone could pick up and you don’t need to have a played the original? For fans of the first game, we’ve added a lot of story elements and secrets that they’ll appreciate. But it’s a game that stands alone. It can reach out to that new community and they can enjoy it for the first time.”

I am not sure that something like this would necessarily go down well with the fans of the original, but at least this mindset explains all the various changes that have been made to Titanfall 2 from the first game, which don’t necessarily seem to have been received all that well. Titanfall 2 is out in October on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

So is it lit? :jbhmm:
Seems like the majority of people that didn't play the first like it,and the majority of people that played the first don't like it :jbhmm:

Personally, it's aight. But feels like most other shooters. I'm having trouble seeing why one would play this over other shooters.
