Akatsuki didn't really have any plans.

All we knew was they wanted the tailed beasts for reasons, until late into part 2. It's okay if you rooted for them in the fights(love me some Deidara), but I don't think they had a philosophy or principle to agree with.

Pretty sure them nikkas just wanted to use the tailed beasts to take over the world breh. You have to remember the Akatsuki was led by Tobi/Obito who was being led by Madara who wanted to put the world in endless sleep with the power of the Ten-Tails.

I had issues with the prequels but I liked the story element of showing the Jedi were morally gray and had flaws within in the organization. Too bad that idea wasn’t in a better movie
