Yeah..: part one was hard to watch. I'm prolly gonna cry the entire time. I was watching and my dad asked me about it I was breaking up and fighting tears to explain it. This justice system ain't shyt. And I know it's so many more victims to this that we don't know about who still face daily torture like Kalief did. Looking at him when they showed him and the camera crew and how he looked uncomfortable... you could see he was dead in the eyes. They even said grown men are broken by Rikers... it's so fukked up.

I started to cry when his mom talked about her heart. It only worked 25% and she even said her meds werent for getting her better but to simply keep her alive. :mjcry:

I don't know if I'm going to be able to watch this properly. Kalief Browder's story is the first and only time I've cried when reading something that doesn't directly affect me or a family member. Dude is the same age as me and was robbed of his innocence by a fukked up system designed to destroy hope.

Nothing but respect to Jay-Z for getting behind this. This unfortunate story needs to be heard.

It's understandable, ever since I saw the footage on world star (the only thing I've seen that wasn't negative towards our community) I have been brought to almost tears. But I'm telling u Breh, it's gonna break you. But it's okay because you get it. You get that everything about what he went through was unjustified & needs to be stopped from happening (or continuing to happen). Watching part one had gotten my mind off of Get Out and thinkng about the ones who are still stuck in (un)justice system.

Here's the thing, it's fukked up that no one could get their money up for his bond, which was 3000, so if my math is right, they needed to pull together 300, or get a bailbondsman. It may be different in NY so if anyone wants to correct me feel free.

Browder was arrested at age 16, in May 2010, while walking to his home on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Browder was charged with second degree robbery. He was unable to make his $3,000 bail.[1] Maintaining his innocence, he refused to take a plea bargain that would have released him. The case was eventually dismissed and Browder was released in June 2013 by Judge Patricia DiMango [2] after numerous postponements of his case and 31 hearings.[3][4]

For two of those years, Browder was held in solitary confinement or administrative segregation.[5] Browder was held in solitary confinement for nearly 800 days. During his time in prison he repeatedly asked for a trial and was only offered plea deals instead which would have given him 15 years in prison if he had been convicted.[6] During his time at Rikers Jail in New York City, he claimed that he was beaten and abused by prison guards during his sentence. His story was covered in some degree by local press after his release,[3] and Browder was profiled in The New Yorker in October 2014 for being held for three years on Rikers Island without a trial.[2] The exposure of his case became the impetus for proposed reforms in the New York City criminal justice system.[7][8]

It just feels like nobody gave a shyt about this young man until after he killed himself.
