AP - Republicans were first urging the Administration to start investigating leaks through news/media outlets pertaining to foreign related issues. Now all of a sudden they're playing "outraged"

I'm not a Republican. A lot of people upset with this are not Republicans.

Hell, NBC and the NY Times have displayed unprecedented vitriol towards this President over this matter.

This is serious, much more so than the other 2 things you listed.

Congressman: Justice Dept. Wiretapped the House of Representative's Cloak Room | The Weekly Standard

Congressman: Justice Dept. Wiretapped the House of Representative's Cloak Room

6:14 AM, MAY 16, 2013 • BY DANIEL HALPER

California congressman Devin Nunes made the claim yesterday that the Justice Department wiretapped telephones in the House of Representative's Cloak Room, an exclusive part of the Capitol where members are able to privately interact with one another. Nunes made the claim on Hugh Hewitt's radio show.

"So when they went after the AP reporters, right? Went after all of their phone records, they went after the phone records, including right up here in the House Gallery, right up from where I’m sitting right now. So you have a real separation of powers issue that did this really rise to the level that you would have to get phone records that would, that would most likely include members of Congress, because as you know," Nunes claimed.

Hewitt responded by saying, "Wow."

UPDATE: Jack Langer, Rep. Nunes's communications director, emails this clarification:

I wanted to make a clarification for your article. What Rep. Nunes meant by “tapped” was that the DOJ seized the phone records, as has been widely reported. There was a little confusion between him and the host during the conversation: He did not mean to refer to phone records of the cloakroom itself, but of the Capitol. This refers to the phone records from the AP’s desk in the press gallery, which the DOJ admitted to looking at. He was explaining that if those phone records were seized, they would reveal a lot of conversations between the press and members of Congress, since reporters often speak to Members from the press gallery phones. The notion of the DOJ looking at phone records from the Capitol of conversations between Members of Congress and reporters is something that concerns Rep. Nunes, bringing up issues related to the separation of powers.

Although his comments were a bit unclear, he clarified soon after in the interview:

DN: So when they went after the AP reporters, right? Went after all of their phone records, they went after the phone records, including right up here in the House Gallery, right up from where I’m sitting right now. So you have a real separation of powers issue that did this really rise to the level that you would have to get phone records that would, that would most likely include members of Congress, because as you know…

yeah, but it's going to be the GOP that will take us into the next wars..and set up the next 30 years of trickle down economics.... Obama just keeps us in neutral... so that he can secure his legacy.

Neutral? Only neutral if you haven't been paying attention. He's gone to the far right on a lot of issues, and trickle down is alive and well under Obama

I think the AP probe is a bigger story

one of the best thing we have is a free press that keeps the government on its watch and that shouldn't be threatened

but who's watching the watch dog?

you do realize the media talks TO MUCH right? leaks and more leaks. the wrong kind of leaks can get some of us killed. you do realize this right?

if we had a secret weapon underneath north koreas presidents bed. the media would leak it. thats how stupid and overboard the media can be. sure its great to have when you need to keep the people in charge in check and keep them from doing things behind our back. but beyond that. SHUT UP about sensitive info.

nikkas acting like any of this is a big deal? I thought the IRS thing was a big deal initially, now it's clear the WH had nothing to do with it. We know the Benghazi outrage is bullshyt, and the AP stuff seems more like a reflection of 21st century US policy than anything else.

Only one I'm really concerned about is the AP probe.

Only Republicans care about Benghazi and I haven't seen any proof that Obama even knew about the IRS thing. :ld:

The Bengazi scandal is just the right reaching man.

@Type Username Here I thought you retired?

I read the dod is going to increase funding/security for embassy defense, I honestly doubt it's lacking. Everyone I've been to or seen is a fortress. Type do embassy marines have different training/experience? Sounds like a plush posting
