Smart move to put him on the call. It's strange that they bid so much on the NBA package and they are way behind TNT's level of production. Van Gundy/Jackson were the best duo ESPN had. Hubie or Legler might as well call the finals. I haven't been impressed with RJ or Reddik.

Why did you like Van Gundy and Jackson?
I very much did not like their commentary and was always curious why they got games.
Their chemistry and history. When they got dropped, ESPN's planned replacement was Doc & Doris. I can't remember the last time that Doc spent a full year as an announcer.
Mark Jones used to call games with Doris and they were fine. I just never saw them as being the crew that would be announcing the NBA finals. The same goes for RJ and JJ.

It's like a good ref or good judge in boxing. No one ever talks bout em cause they do they job well. It's the bad ones who get the convos and discussions. Legler do his thing he one of em few on there that actually know his hoops.
