I think that's what's missing. The booking and writing was always bad, but people were there for Stone Cold and The Rock. The main eventers are what mattersAnd The Attitude Era’s writing was complete shyt and you’re full of it if you sit here and insist otherwise. Don’t let your bias and novelty of The Attitude Era fool you into thinking otherwise. The talent made the best of the shytty writing and gimmicks that they were given and rose above the bad writing and the fans latched on to them.
The Russo era was worse than the Kreski era but Russo atleast made sure that mid-lower card guys had characters and storylines to get invested in. If you’re not a top guy these days, you’re just chasing R-Truth through catering for the 24/7 title. And The Attitude Era’s writing was complete shyt and you’re full of it if you sit here and insist otherwise. nothing tunes me out faster than seeing a tag match with some combo ofPeople are tired of seeing the same matches over and over again.
WWE's writing was always shyt as long as Vince McMahon existed. He kept hiring people like Russo or Bucky Beaver Dunn who know nothing about professional wrestling but yet somehow they affected what the show's gon be about. Only difference is that 20 years ago they had way more legit talent where every show it looked like there were multiple guys who could legitimately hold the title. Today we have two guys: Roman and Lesnar, because that's how Vince booked the show. They made Lashley lose the title to E, then they made E lose to Roman fair and square, making WWE belt a total joke. And The Attitude Era’s writing was complete shyt and you’re full of it if you sit here and insist otherwise. like...i don't need to see a 4 man, 6 man, or 8 man with any combo of the above ever again
Those two it's alright because of the eternal blood feud but they should switch up stips or stakes every time when they fightI physically cringe when I see Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens too.

There is far more competition right now than 20 years ago. We got MMA shows taking away a big portion of wrestling fanbase, we got AEW and other promotions. Vince keeps booking the show same way over and over again with no new great ideas at all.
It actually took time for most people to tune out. shyt, some of these decent posters in here still keep watching. I have no fukkin clue how and why they do it.Chickens came to roost. Idiot son in law dared everyone to stop watching and it’s been a decline ever since
The people were there for everyone, because in that era everyone was over. They were there just as much to chant along with the New Age Outlaws as they were to hear the Glass Shattering for Austin too. When you write a show where everyone matters, people tend to get invested in whoever stands out.I think that's what's missing. And Russo and Ed Ferriria were talking and interacting with talent regularly. Peep Russo in the crowd to test the crowd energy and reaction.
You can see here how creative worked back then. It wasn't some soap opera writer giving some script that a wrestler has to read verbatim but Russo going to a wrestler and brainstorming with the wrestlers and making sure they get the character he has in mind for them and at the same time allowing the wrestlers to take ownership and come up with things themselves. This is the very definition of bullet points and not scripts.
