This shyt is seriously getting to the level of treason. If this was a ship and someone tried to pull this shyt we would throw them overboard. I don't understand what causes insanity but these Republicans have lost their fukking minds. They are literally holding an invisible man hostage. They have nothing to gain from this. NOTHING. The only outcome would be damage to the economy. If they keep this up all the way up to the debt ceiling deadline, we need to charge them with treason. Seriously.
tea party and Koch brothers = traitors

Treason? Really? It's only Day 1, fellas. Calm down.
The hyperbole is running wild in here. You do realize that the sky isn't falling and this is not the end of the world right? Ronald Reagan had like 7 or 8 shutdowns during his two terms and somehow the US didn't turn into a banana republic.

I don't find 'the rest of the world having it' a selling point, nor does that automatically make it great or desirable to me. :manny:

Its law now tho, so I'm just gonna hope for the best.

American Muslims addressed the issue of the govt shutdown...American Muslims for Palestine

It is a fitting time. The federal government may shut down Tuesday because it cannot afford to pay its bills yet we are still sending Israel billions of dollars in military aid, loan guarantees, other grants and free or reduced cost weaponry every year. Also today, Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu visited President Barack Obama in the Oval Office today to discuss Iran, Syria and the “peace process.”

“It is inexcusable that we continue to fund Israel’s military when our own government can’t pay its employees or fund important social services,” said AMP national board member Dr. Osama Abu Irshaid. “Our unconditional support of Israel hurts our image throughout the world and weakens our national security. It is time to keep this money here at home to help Americans who desperately need it.”

I am not a demoncrat or a fan of :obama: but what is being done is treason...corrupt racist right wing politicians have been paid off by a corporation to hold the gov't hostage and it's completely legal because the supreme court said that corporations are people...this is extremely dangerous because it essentially ends democracy and politically castrates the middle class

You should probably take a sabbatical from watching the news and discussing the shutdown if you truly believe that democracy could be ended based off of these ass clowns in DC not agreeing on a continuing resolution (not even an actual budget mind you since we haven't had one of those in years) because you are letting this stuff get you too worked up.

1. The Affordable Care Act is the closest thing to universal healthcare this country has ever had.
2. An unhealthy society is a less productive society.
3. A society ridden by medical debt benefits no one but the medical industry. The obscene amount of money spent could be better served circulating within the economy in the form of consumer spending.
4. The GOP is pot-committed at this point, they have no choice but to cut off their nose to spite their face.
5. Get the casket ready for the "Tea Party"...slow singing, flower bringing time.

The ACA is far worse than both what we have now and universal healthcare.

Lets play devils advocate, what if the ACA falls flat, ends up costing more than our current system results in the loss of jobs, and a decline in care... How are the Dems looking then? :mjpls:
