Is SYG really even the issue here?
It would seam to me that discharging a firearm in city limits does not constitute life sentence, this is cruel and unusual punishment, particularly when paired up against SYG law, where someone can actually kill someone and not see any jail time. Somewhere they are getting blended and i'm not sure they need to be.

Also,
Women have gotten away with killing abusive husbands in the past on self defense.

Still though fact remains her own husband said they were warning shots, where the DA is stringing together 60 years on an illegal weapons discharge is outlandish and I'd argue criminal.

If this case took place in any other state you all would be arguing for prison time. In fact, it wouldn't even be news for you to argue about.

Now picture this though. A black kid is throwing eggs at a white man in a park. The man fears for his life so he runs down the block to his house where he is safe because the kid doesn't know where he lives. Instead of staying inside and calling the police he grabs a shotgun and walks back down to the park and shoots "warning shots" in a park full of bystanders. Is that okay?

- she shot a gun in a house that had children inside of the premises

No one was killed. No one was gravely injured. There was a history of physical abuse towards the woman to the point where her thinking may have been frayed, which could've affected her perception of the argument with the husband. And Florida has a recent history of precarious, at best, application of the same law used to put her in jail with no one hurt yet free George Zimmerman with a child dead.

Are you speaking from personal pain? Have you experienced a "hair hatted hooligan" cheating on you? Has a "hair hatted hooligan" been "outta pocket with you"?

I think SYG allows for setting a dangerous precedent. However given the history, I don't think she should spend 60 years in jail.

Maybe 3 months and 10 years probation or something. She WAS reckless in what she did.

And comparing her situation to the other SYG cases are dangerous. Dunn is a murderer plain and simple. He got mad because some young black people disrespected him and he wanted to show them who is boss. Even his wife said it was bullshyt that the kids in the car had a gun.

This woman, who had a history of abuse from her husband or whatever, clearly feared for her life and with good reason. Even if Dunn had been beat up by black people all his life, it still wouldn't have justified him murdering an unarmed teen.
