The sad thing is most of the Muslims here, or at least the most outspoken ones, seem to confirm and reinforce every negative stereotype and generalization people make about Muslims. I think a lot of Americans who didn't know much about Islam were willing to go with Bush's "Islam is a peaceful religion" statement off face value, and the more people learned about Islam and the actions and thoughts of those who follow it, they concluded otherwise. Yeah so with this logic let black people and women continue to be commodities and treated like subhumans. The status of the aforementioned groups were elevated after Islam was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Not to mention infanticide (which is still practiced all over the world) was put to a halt when the Medina city state was established by the prophet.
