I'd say he's not in the best shape he could be in and I think it does hurt his ability to finish at the rim.
Idk why im going to respond to you since you clearly hate melo but Not really its the fact that he's looking for contact alot as opposed to Making sure he scores . The fact that he's able to rip down his offensive rebound that quickly and go back up to score it means he's strong and has athleticism . What Melo needs to do is go work with Hakeem and work on expanding his post game

i hate going back to Carmelo's work habits but this says a lot. This is at the rookie all star game. Carmelo was a year ahead of Lebron and played in college and you can clearly see the difference in physique. No definition whatsoever. Look at the shoulders. It's like Melo only played basketball to stay in shape.

still no definition.. He's a 3 but he gained the weight of a 4 but he's an undersized 4 because its no muscle there.

Great players who never REALLY had definition:
  • Paul Pierce
  • Charles Barkley
  • Larry Bird
  • Shaq
  • Patrick Ewing

We can name a whole list of players with great definition that could never put it all together and carry a team to the finals as these guys did starting with Dominique Wilkins.

Players like Tim hardaway and Charles Barkley and probably Melo just have that body type that will NOT get that chizzled look (sp)

Riley, when he brough Tim Hardaway to Miami put wieght incentives in his contract (body fat %) and dude worked hard to get the fat % down for extra bonus money and could never get the whole thing. His body type just wouldnt cooperate.

This is obvious to anyone with a brain. The people in here who think you can only be in shape if your body is chiseled probably have a collective IQ of about 70-79.

His post game is already up there if you ask me. He just needs a little more strength so people cant easily force him out of the blocks. Beef up like Jordan did in his last few years. Even if he has to become a PF in the process. If not strengthen his legs so he can finish stronger at the basket instead of hoping for contact and foul calls.

Right now i'd take Melo's post game over 80%t players in the NBA's post game. He just needs to use it more than he does now. But he sometimes gets comfortable outside

And Tim Duncan is an exception to that so far. David Robinson and Karl Malone were ripped until the time they hung it up too BTW

Shaq would get "in shape" to the point where he wasnt obviously overweight but dude was never "ripped" and had great "definition". Pretty much like Barkely was hsi whole career. But they could never get ripped like Malone and David Robinson. Again, different body types.

It may be unfair for me to bring Malone into this because he was a workout freak damn near on Jerry Rice's level some would say but you see my point.

:usure: I cant lift heavy weights much anymore because of my back i get ripped off of alot of cardio pushups situps crunches and curls :ld: not roided ripped but lean ripped

Melo probably puts in some work but his body is just naturally a little doughy
