I think this is one of the main WWE problems. No characters. Roman just got one. It’s also why none of these released guys matter. Braun, Black, hell Seth Rollin, just dudes with beards. And I love Rollins and think Braun was wasted. But no one outside of core wrestling fans care about any of them.

I liked it too but they were never going to let it go as far as it needed to go to make an impact. Seth has had some terrible runs. First championship run he fukks his leg up, then he gets twitter heat and the fans turn, then he wins the title at summerslam from Brock and the people are back on his side, but he ends up in a never ending feud with Corbin that kills his heat again. Things are looking rough for the kid until the messiah gimmick, but that dies too, and now he’s the vision, but again, I think he’s a cokehead. Truth be told he seems happier in this role than he ever was as the “main” guy, which seems like a stressful enough role, but he may have also mellowed out since the baby.

But anyway back to the topic at hand so I don’t take the thread off course, a lot of the roster just don’t have gimmicks period. I’m not saying we need to go back to ‘95 where everyone had a side job, but damn, can we get SOME character? “Stern guy with beard”, “Really good wrestler”, and “Guy who’s happy to be here.” aren’t exactly electrifying.
