I never said he quit on the team

I expected to lose this series in 4 or 5 games. I did not expect to get blown out by 50 on the homefloor. This is one of the most embarrassing performances from a team in NBA history. This team is nowhere close to being able to compete with the elites. And there are some decisions that will have to be made about this core in the near future. Horford is maxed out, IT is gonna want the max, Bradley is getting $20 mil a year at least. So to question whether you want to invest all your cap space into this core when they've shown they aren't close to being good enough is not exactly unreasonable.

When Durant had his meeting with Boston he asked if Boston would pay to keep everybody and the answer was yes.

They'll throw that max money at Hayward

You say we aren't close but who is? We are balancing competing and rebuilding at the same time... adding fultz Hayward zizic and yabu over Amir James young Tyler zeller and Jonas jerebko is gonna make us better

I wouldn't be suprised if Zizic is starting by January

He is a max player. They're just losing to the better team. If I were Celtics I'd give him a short max deal while they develop Fultz. Or just trade him.

Of course the ATL
@AVXL lying on Al again. We offered a max deal, we didn't offer the 5th year. Your hate for our best player since Nique is fukking disgusting

Again you're wrong. We didn't offer Al a max deal and his contract was going to be for 5 years

While Boston offered the full, four-max contract to Horford (which he eventually accepted), Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports that Atlanta’s offer fell short of the maximum level over a five-year period.

Yeah I'd be down to pay everyone if Durant was coming too, but he's not.

You can offer Hayward the max but he has to accept it. Performances like this sure as hell aren't helping your chances. Utah fought harder than this against Golden State and that was with George Hill missing the vast majority of the series, Gobert playing hurt and Favors on one leg.

The point is if they aren't close why rid yourself of cap flexibility to keep something that you know can't work?

I'd take Thomas off the bench in Houston.

Horford and Thomas for Anderson, Ariza and Lou Williams.

Horford is tailer made for a big in that system. Plus nene ain't coming back the same player

We can't keep up with Cleveland offensively

Imagine Hayward shooting threes over crowder and fultz over smart

And you fukking know we would get at least one game out of golden state

We can't score against them in any facet, we can't guard their shooters, we can't keep them off the boards, we can't stop them in the paint.

No I don't know that at all.

We match up way better against golden state and have beaten them in important games this year and last

We beat Cleveland this year and were competitive against them in two other games

How that working out in the playoffs?

It's fine. The goal going into the season was to get out of the first round correct?

We get to the conference finals and now you wanna blow it up cause we are losing to the defending champs.

Dumb logic. We over achieved, we are playing with house money and we have opportunities to improve significantly this offseason. Tons of assets, cap space, and the number one pick in the best draft in a long time

So do you keep IT as the #1 option going forward?

Don't have to blow it up. Just can't come back with this core and expect anything different when they matchup with Cleveland.

Hayward is good but he's not the savior. And regardless of what potential you think Fultz or Zizic have at the end of the day they're still gonna be 19-20 year old rookies

you're missing the point
this series highlights the talent gap and ceiling this current team will hit
you need a paint presence...you aint getting it in this draft...and unlikely to get that at the top of the next draft.
no matter how you slice it...you need someone to be able to score in the post, get rebounds and be a threat defensively at protecting the rim
so what if you made it to the conference finals....an isaiah led team aint going no where....fortunately you have an outlet to start over with a better build with the brooklyn picks and you have a great coach.
:manny: i dont have faith in danny ainge being able to pick up a good big man by any other means beyond the lottery tho :francis:
you gotta start over and develop those young players you will get (thanks to brooklyn) and target the declining era of lebron...which probably wont be for 3 years :francis:
