My interest in an artist never fell as much as it did after B.O.B's first album. That shyt was garbage.

His mixtapes were so good. I don't care if it was too much singing, unlike other rap artists who sing throughout the entire song...he played his position and made feel good music.

This was all over my playlist in 2010.

B.o.B. hasn't popped off because B.o.B. as a talent was never showcased. He had songs featuring Bruno Mars, Hayley Williams of Paramore, and a remix that featured Eminem. He never really got to capitalize off his sound. His first single "Nothin' On You" jump started Bruno Mars' mainstream run. Then he came with "Airplanes" Pt. 1 & 2, which had everybody like :lupe: . From that point on Atlantic and other labels all had their major artists rappin' over Alex Da Kid productions (even Dr. Dre had one). Then he came with "Magic" which had the guy from Weezer on the chorus. That was also everywhere, but again, the chorus put B.o.B. in the background.

When he came out with his second album, he came with "Strange Clouds" which again had him overshadowed by a feature. Then we got "So Good" which is his biggest record without a feature. The momentum of his second album was squandered with "Both of Us" featuring Taylor Swift. Much fuss was made of the song prior to it's release. The actual song wasn't all that good and it also kind of tanked.

He had some momentum with "We Still In This", but it's clear that his biggest draw are his Rap/Pop hybrid records produced by Pop producers like Alex Da Kid, The Smeezingtons (Bruno Mars and co.), and Dr. Luke.

I don't think B.o.B had a real fan base. People liked his singles but weren't really interested in him. Matter of fact, the hooks made his songs popular, nobody gave a fukk about his verses.

with that being said, b.o.b is talented.

Thing is, dude can rap his ass off...but he doesn't get recognition for it.
Because he has no character, personality, sound or style. He is talented but bland. After making his first debut album sound like a pop rock record he is street again? Lol.

He needs an identity but unfortunately he has already presented himself to the world as the soft ass Taylor swift buddy buddy pop rapper. No going back
