Nothing about my post said she was learning, I said that’s an unacceptable excuse. and you don’t know what her father has and hasn’t done. She said she’s never met him and he wasn’t part of her life during her formative years, whether the mom was a hater who helped keep him out her life or he was a bum that just didn’t take care of his, either way that shyt fukks up a kid. I don’t know or care what she does in her personal life, this thread is the first time I’ve even dived into the realm of Doja beyond discussing her music. But I first came across her in 2015 and she’s been putting out music since at least 2014, so yes, I’d consider that grinding for awhile given her name just started popping in the last two years and her music only made it into the mainstream in like the last year.

Same, I’ve seen self hating full black people, so I can only imagine a half breed. This is what happens when black people either choose to raise, or let their kids be raised, in all white spaces and don’t do anything to help shape their black identity.

She needs to just keep it real about how she was raised and apparent resentment she harbors towards her dad which clearly affects her outlook on blackness. People may not forgive her or accept it, but you’d have to respect honesty over canned responses and “I didn’t know/I’m still learning” excuses

As if now she is a one hit wonder. If she had other hits besides this one, I wouldn't even have said it. One hit wonders still have cult followings and release music that could be considered dope. For all intents and purposes, Asher Roth only had one hit. He too had a cult following. The quality of the music is subjective.
