Sunset Overdrive uses a 10 year old engine,
No it doesn't, where are you getting this nonsense from?

they literally could've cel-shaded it for the last council or used less clutter, but don't get it wrong, that was a last gen game with next gen colors and shine. Everything done in the game could have been replicated by the last gens.
No it could not. Everything from the animations, to textures, to enemy count, particles, etc are well beyond anything on last gen.

Rockstar didn't feed the whole "next gen" crowd with bullshyt and delivered what looked and played like a next gen game in GTA5, they pushed the engine and console to the limits, something many developers didn't bother with.
The fukk are you talking about? The gameplay In GtaV is exactly the same as every other gta game. There's literally nothing next gen about it. its GTA using the old engine, not sunset

Do the research, the INSOME engine is more than 10 years old, they're using version 6.0, but the engine has been around since Spyro the Dragon. Literally everything in the game has been done before, like I said, ignoring particle count, and shading, it could've been done on the last gens. Enemy count is irrelevant as that also has been done in larger numbers with previous gens (Just Cause, Far Cry, Infamous, Prototype, etc). SO uses one gimmick, the grinding on rails...ahem Bioshock did that.

The grinding on rails was ripped straight out of ratchet and clank. And you could grind on power lines in infamous.

SO isnt doing anything special or original.

we know dude is just stanning SO since it's an exclusive. Dude would never admit it's possible on last gen. GTA V is WAY more advanced than fukking Sunset overdrive.

He also explained that they are using a completely new engine for this game, which is tailored to their needs.

this is basically a completely different engine, twice removed. A lot of the stuff we built for it was to hit Marcus and Drew’s goals for the game in terms of the mass quantities of enemies on screen (it’s a lot), the size of the world and the ability to move across it quickly (challenging in open world games) and the sheer number of effects (fireworks, pyro, all that good stuff). Everything we’re doing technically is based on nailing the vision of the game, which is exactly as it should be

And no the enemy count has not been done anywhere other than in dead rising 3 another title built for next gen.

You are just talking out of your ass about things you don't know.:francis:

How does this line of thinking make any sense?

GTA WAS done in last gen, but somehowe your argument is that its more advanced than a next gen only title.

And that makes sense to y'all?:dahell:

The engine being used is a new version of INSOME, the same one used on Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, and Fuse, do the research. And Lost Cause 2 has more clutter and is a bigger game on the whole.

I guess the new Batman game uses a 17 year old engine

Only in name. Its their proprietary engine, they don't change the name, but it was built from the ground up for Xbox one.

Its a silly argument you are making considering gta uses the rage engine which is also a name that's been in use for over 10 years. Yet you claim that game is advanced.

So tell me. What is GTA doing that so advanced? What couldn't you do on last gen?

And no just cause does not have more stuff on screen at once.

This is absolutely crazy. All the explosions, literally hundreds of A.I. And its 4 player co-op with absolutely no slowdown. You absolutely could not replicate this experience on last gen. All the way down to the physics on the clothing.

Name one last gen game with customizable clothing in which every piece had realistic independent physics. Capes/coats/fur flies in the wind. Hats/glasses/accessories all fit and react realistically to movement. And that's with dozens of customizable pieces of clothing.

That alone is "next gen"

Its more advance due to what's being done. A lot of next gen titles just use the hardware to add more clutter or shading or sprites...making a game pretty isn't exactly next gen, as the Skyrim modding community has been doing that for a while now. The gameplay in GTA5 (switching characters + overarching story with said characters) was the first time any one developer tried something like that.

Now lets take a look at the next gen titles; Destiny; nothing new there, first person shooting is tight, as it should be, but nothing Borderlands didn't claim the throne on. Infamous; Sprites, sprites, and more sprites, gameplay was rudimentary and didn't really live up to the previous titles. And my favorite, Bloodborne, the game is basically a Dark Souls 2 mod running its course on a very pretty engine, but the gameplay isn't trying to attempt anything nuanced, these titles are next gen; literally, but they aren't that ethereal "next-gen" that meant what it meant during the PS1-PS2 or even the SNES-N64 days.

Switching characters is next gen? Resident evil did that 10 years ago:heh:

Hell sonic and knuckles did it 20 years ago.
