This place is going to die out sooner than later and you boomers don't even realize it because you're so set in your ways to notice traffic slowing down every day. God it's like hearing my dad talk in hear.
"wE doNt NeEd new peOpLe."
At this point this place isn't a forum anymore, it's just a private chat on display. Idk if it's fear or stubborness but yall will be crying when you're only down to a few members talking to each other. If those gossip thread starters ever get banned or decide not to post 1/3 of this forum will crumble.
This is like Secret Wars in Marvel a few years back where we're in the protected mega city but outside are mindless flesh eating horde variants of us trying to get in
Pray to Rabum Alal that the walls don't fall
honestly this is not a bad ideaThere's a football forum, Redcafe. It's about Manchester United, it's a forum for their fans. So anyway back in the day they had an interesting system to maintain the quality of their forum. New members had to spend time in their own section, they couldn't join the major boards. So all the new people just spent time talking with each other on their own.
The new forum was moderated by the same mods who looked after the main sections, and every once in a while they would pick out like 10 or 20 of the best contributors and promote them to the main forums.
So the new member section was like the place to vet new members and make sure only the real get through the selection process and join up with the rest of the community.
We could do something like that here, use the Bushes as the place for the new people to prove themselves in. Or at least we could if we had moderators with the power to actually do that sort of management. Regardless of how possible it is to actually do over here, it's a really good system to force the new people to prove themselves before joining us. It's sort of like the mafia, you know, you don't get to be a made man straight away. You have to put in the work for many years as an associate first, show that you're good enough and worthy of becoming a made man. Then you get promoted to join the ranks of the veterans.
Mods have no ownership, stop looking up to them as I'd they got power. It literally takes the owner one second to give permission to give open registration.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a money issue and they are litigating money in the background.
Somebody must of got sued. It makes zero sense
They haven't even updated their license of the forum platform. Xenforo has way more updated options on their new platforms.
I mean I doubt any of the mods here are paid or compensated in any way. Also this forum is far from dying. I think the people complaining should leave and then maybe we can screen some new members of its that serious. Its crazy that the mods would rather let the forum die slow than do ANY work and opening registration.
This is the way right here. Put these new recruits in the waiting room. The black algorithm should shine through and allow promotion to be easy. That and have a expedited vetting process like face time to get Brothers in quickly. There's a football forum, Redcafe. It's about Manchester United, it's a forum for their fans. Once these goofy old heads recognize that they're only talking and trolling themselves they will be begging and pleading for that opening.Used to be 20,000 people viewing this forum at a time.
now 5,000. Thats a heavy fall off.
I also notice its overwhelmingly traditionally horrible posters against opening registration in this thread
Like a referral system?
I ran a video porn site, I'm familiar with bandwidth and server needs. In no way is forum traffic even comparable to video streaming server demand. It takes money for web hosting. Popular forums get pretty expensive to host. It will cost to migrate the forum and re-engineer it. It also costs to have good moderation.
