It doesn't make any sense. But coaches keep making such decisions because they find it psychologically difficult to accept everything coming down to one play.

Somehow they feel like they have more control if it comes down to series of plays rather than one specific play. But if one thinks about it rationally, what has a greater probability of success:

1. Converting a 4th and 10

2. Punting the ball and then forcing the other team to punt so that you get the ball back with enough time to score a touchdown

To me, it is obviously 1.
Big Toe obviously wasn’t paying attention to the 9ers last drive that took 9 minutes off the clock :mjlol:
The Dallas line couldn’t stop a cool breeze by the end of the 4th quarter so why he thought it would be a good idea to put the game on his defense making a quick stop was beyond stewpit :dead:
