Y'all don't even realize that you all prove the OP's point every time y'all say this:russ:

Back in the day there was a thing called "balance" . I could turn my radio on and hear music from cats like Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, The Roots, Digable Planets, Arrested Development, etc. I could hear positive and uplifting messages in the mainstream. Even somebody like Tupac could make club joints like How Do You Want It and I Get Around then make a soulful joint like Dear Mama or a deep message like Changes.

There is no more balance and that's by design. There is a specific agenda why 90% of music that's given a mainstream platform promotes and glorifies destructive behaviour. Y'all keep thinking its "just entertainment" tho

So because the radio station's choice of what to play to doesn't appease you this era of music is garbage? :mjlol:The reason that music is chosen is because that is the music that they deem hot. Who the fukk gets their music via the radio in 2016?:childplease: The point of me saying do your research is gone are they days you'll get spoon fed your "good message" music because it's not being selected for the mainstream consumption.
Also because YOU don't like something doesn't make it trash, wild arrogance lmao but yeah whatever this era of music is shytty and the past was incredible blah blah:heh:

Nope, everything you're saying is wrong. The mainstream music is NOT getting play simply "because its hot". What you and others don't understand is that there is an ongoing assault on the black image GLOBALLY. Again, just look at the names of these rappers. Young Thug, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert. This reinforces the stereotypes of black people being dangerous, violent and ignorant. This is more than just about "music" and more about the continued demonization of the black image by propping up ignorant rappers to perpetuate the most negative stereotypes of black people. Most of you aren't mentally ready to have this discussion. Y'all got lots more "knowledge of self" to acquire. That's IF you're black. If you're not black there's no way you could ever understand my point of view. Its way deeper than just music.

Uncle Murdah, Ghostface Killah, Mack 10, Killa Cam, O.D.B, Bone Thugs and Harmony the list goes on, but yeah it's only this generation that has that you right:mjlol: Condescending ass nikkas always think they are right, even if what I was saying as "all wrong" the issue with people like you and Op is you come out screaming "Youre all stupid this is all shyt rah rah" and give no logic or explanation and expect people to listen to you while you insult them, but whatever keep preaching breh.:umad:

Didn't read but "Balance" is severely lacking today. Where's the balance at today? Sorry my dude, you're way out your league on this topic. Gain some knowledge of self and racial pride (if you're black) and get back at me:snooze:

The 80's were way worse.

And I'll gladly argue with anyone on that point.

You sound dumb as fukk, lil nikka.

Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Prince, Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, Maze, Teddy Pendergrass, Zapp and Roger, etc...were all making GREAT FEEL GOOD MUSIC back then..what the hell is wrong with some you lost nikkas?

Who cares if they were "hits" or not. The point is that they were offered up as OPTIONS. One of my fav songs coming up was Blackstar's "Respiration"

One of the most lyrical songs in hip-hop history. Can you imagine an intelligent sing like that getting major radio play like that today? Songs like that was normal to hear.

Even the super lyrical Pharaoh Monch had a couple of joints in the mainstream:

Hell, I even heard Lauryn Hill's That Thing on the radio couple weeks ago

and thought to myself that I couldn't imagine a positive song for our little black girls being played on the radio today.

There was BALANCE is my point. So what exactly is your point?

I gave nothing but logic and reasonings in my op
:dahell:
I just couple you with the rest of the brehs who see nothing wrong with this music being promoted more heavily than before. You want to support it, I get it. Do you breh.

Using those artists as an example of "when radio had more balance" is some bullshyt considering those same artists 10-15 years ago were complaining in their music that they didn't get enough radio play.
@MikeyC ain't you overseas or some shyt?:what:

Just say that you don't agree that there was waaay more balance and positive messages back then compared to now and we can agree to disagree and call it a day:cheers:
