I damn near forgot about making this thread :leon:

And the point of that was :rudy: ........:yeshrug:either way, the thread has been relatively respectful & informative given the topic and range of opinions on thecoli. :patrice: Hell, they are probably no less provocative then the comments she already gets:jbhmm: ...on her PUBLIC YOUTUBE VIDEOS :martin:

That said the title is admittedly a bit "clickbaity"

It's possible. You have some Black folks (African Americans are a good example)
with a decent percentage of Caucasian dna (decent being like 30-15%) and still be darkskinned
.

What does a person who is 80% African/20% European look like :jbhmm:

your average african american. we've had people get genetic tests done on here with similar genetic compositions.

I'm in that category. Chocolate as I can be.

Genetic expression is very tricky. that's me in my avi and I'm 50% Caucasian

So she looks like what 80% of her dna is
Shocking :francis:

What does your average African American look like? :jbhmm:

Sorry, she could pass for full white, I don't see the 20% at all.

I recalled this thread when looking over another post(see below) that I made. Figured it would provide insight to some of yalls previous questions above... :ehh:

The three southern African American populations
(New Orleans, Houston, and Charleston) show a wide
range of admixture values (11.6%–22.5%).
The
Charleston population is of special interest because data
on admixture proportions in African Americans from
the former southern British colonies (South Carolina and
Georgia) have been used to postulate differences in gene
flow between the northern and southern African American
populations. The population of Charleston shows
the lowest m value (11.6%) of all the U.S. populations
analyzed in the present study, but it is not very different
from the estimates of one of the northern African American
populations—namely, Philadelphia. It would be
very interesting to have data on additional samples of
southern African American populations to confirm the
existence of a low European contribution in this particular
area
and to study the extent of heterogeneity in the
admixture proportions at this geographical level.

In any case, our study shows that not all the southern
African American populations have as low a European
genetic contribution as that found in the Charleston sample.
The estimate forHouston (16.9%) is similar to other
values observed in northern urban populations (Detroit
and Baltimore), and New Orleans shows the highest m
value of the cities studied (22.5%), which deserves special
attention. The history of the Louisiana territory has
been quite different from the history of other southern
regions in the United States. This area was under French
rule for a substantial period, until it became part of the
Spanish territory in 1763 and, finally, of the United
States some decades later, in 1803. Both the geographic
origin of the slaves imported to Louisiana and their
status during the French domination have been distinct
from what happened in the southern British colonies
(e.g., South Carolina). There have been historical accounts
of more substantial intermixture in the New Orleans
area (Williamson 1995; Piersen 1996), so this
could partly explain the observed differences in ancestral
proportions between Charleston and New Orleans.

I thought yall knew american history? you didn't know about the octaroons that passed as white and went to the other end of the spectrum? Entire families in Virgina and the Appalachian mountains as well as NOLA.

Although racial segregation was adopted legally by southern states of the former Confederacy in the late 19th century, legislators resisted defining race by law as part of preventing interracial marriages. In 1895 in South Carolina during discussion, George D. Tillman said,

It is a scientific fact that there is not one full-blooded Caucasian on the floor of this convention. Every member has in him a certain mixture of... colored blood...
It would be a cruel injustice and the source of endless litigation, of scandal, horror, feud, and bloodshed to undertake to annul or forbid marriage for a remote, perhaps obsolete trace of Negro blood. The doors would be open to scandal, malice, and greed.[6]

The one-drop rule was not adopted as law until the 20th century: first in Tennessee in 1910 and in Virginia under the Racial Integrity Act of 1924 (following the passage of similar laws in several other states).

Lot of people dont know this but congress had a huge problem with the colonizers of Virgina. VA was started by a dozen families and those families all looked "different". This brought a lot of concern and prompted the one drop rule.

The state legislators agreed. No such law was passed until 1924, apparently assisted by the fading recollection of familial histories.

The Melungeons are a group of multiracial families of mostly European and African ancestry whose ancestors were free in colonial Virginia. They migrated to the frontier in Kentucky and Tennessee. Their descendants have been documented over the decades as having tended to marry persons classified as "white".[11] Their descendants became assimilated into the majority culture from the 19th to the 20th centuries.

People only think we have admixtures but no, they do too, they only mention their native american side out of guilt or something I dont know.
