The 36,39 and 38 are my all time favorite BMW's. Had each one of them at one point or another. The 6cyl and 4 cyl IS are fastly becoming rare and expensive here in Europe, even a beat 4cyl 30 will run you a couple thousand. A 325/328 in good condition is an easy 7-10. I bought a 850 12 yrs ago for 6 grand, that same car brings in a easy 12-15 k. If you have BMW from that era in good shape, keep it.I have a 96 318IS,a323i from 84 , sold my 540i and regretted it almost immediately. I'm buying a 2003 328 coupe as a daily but I'm not fond of the 6 cyl 46 engine manufacturing compared to the M42 or the original M44 4 cyl,my IS outperformed the 320 easily.

My daily is an 01 Sport. Just hit 200k the other day. Replaced the tranny a couple months back and the engine still pulls skrong af and doesnt have any leaks. Even with gas at almost $5 a gallon out here i still keep my foot deep in the pedal and love every minute of it. Outside of a small stitch separation in the passenger seat, the interior is immaculate (for its age) as well.

(Tastefully) Smoked the tails, side markers, and front turn signals along with adding wheel spacers and some beat, but it’s otherwise stock

Respect the good & understand the bad
First of all repped for the E38 thread cause that's one of the goats. :wow:

I don't like when they black everything out like some shyt an 18 year old with plastidip would do. Check this out for reference.

The dark color with the chrome accents + Alpina alloys is the perfect contrast. Makes it look like a timeless luxury car.

Those B7 rims are absolute perfection on the e38.

Maintenance hasn't been too bad, but I get my parts at cost and have access to a lift at my friend's shop and do all my own labor, so my perception of upkeep is a bit skewed. If you don't go for a long wheelbase model, definitely opt for a 2001 with the sport package which has a factory lowered suspension and blacked out "shadowline" trim along with a few other goodies such as the nicer steering wheel. Let me know if you end up going for one and I can show you a good way to upgrade the factory system for your music and handsfree calling.

Automobile goals (LS/6spd/posi swapped though)... :wow:

This was the best 7 series and the only 7 series I could appreciate. Big boddy, offset wheels with deep dish for the perfect stance:wow:

Alpina, Hargtes or BBS…:blessed:

The only first-class big boddy I’m choosing over this one is the late 90s 500SEL with the AMG monoblock :whew:

If you have money and want to be 'different' from everybody else, that's what you drive. I like how it's subtle, not in your face flashy. I wonder what's the power potential though :patrice:

I'm an 80s Mercedes man, but that E38 is off the charts.:win:
