So apparently Simon Cowell is still trying this. Had One Direction not fallen apart after their best member left they'd probably still be doing the boy band stuff.

This is what Simon is trying to make happen now to compete with kpop





In general, however, boy bands just don't have the clout like they used to in a western market. BTS have a international fanbase so their game goes beyond Asia and the US. They are on a global scale and can manage to sell out anywhere they go.

These non-singing R&B cats unless Drake or Weekend ain't got shyt on these BTS guys in terms of video production, promotion and international fanbase the maximum that these US cats have are usually Europe and sometimes a very small fanbase in Asia(Japan) YG, SM and the other Korean labels really know how to invest in their artists.

True, the big three, SM, YG, and JYP had the money and power to push their artists, although they never managed to garner the level of success as BTS/BigHit, they still managed a little bit of spotlight.

I find alot of black women are into Kpop. Can you give some insight to why?

I think it was the kdrama's that did it.

I used to watch the kdramas when I was ryounger. They were nice and at times ridiculous but the shows were never ruined by unnecessary sex. Also they had pretty male leads. I haven't watched in years so they might have evolved.

The guys posted in the OP are, as most kpop culture males, seem to be going for a metrosexual look. But they look more like butch lesbians and not pretty men.

I have never been able to get into kpop though.

Also keep in mind that America is not the world and you will have your Answer. People, through the internet, are now watching TV from around the world. So black women like women from other races are enjoying kpop/kdrama/kwahteverelse.
