The real problem with anime is there's like 15 or so main character archetypes and once you've watched 15 or so good animes you've seen all the archetypes and how they interact with each other. after you reach that point anime becomes repetitive as hell.
60% of the female characters in anime are tsunderes either a type a kind (default aggressive but flip to lovey dovey at times like Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion) or type b kind (which are nice by default with a streak of violence if you push them like Kagome from Inuyasha). 20% of the female characters are kuudere (acts cold and distant emotionally stunted but still caring deep down C.C. from Code Geass) 15% are various other stereotypes like the drunken slutty chick, the cool big sis, or the warm motherly figure, high energy girl, boku saying tomboy ect. the last 5% are yandere aka batshyt crazy deep down but seemingly normal on the surface.
as for the male characters 50% of them are weak willed wusses and nice guy pussies. 20% of them are actually generic normal guys. 10% of them are perverts and the last 10% fall in various other character stereotypes
once you get all that its only so long before a guy falling over a girl as another girl who's a type b tusndere walks in on them and catches it totally misunderstanding and flipping out on him becomes tiresome. or the maid cafe at the school festival or the trip to the hotsprings becomes nauseating.
