I didn't realize the Greek was an informant.

In a sense, he didn't do it to keep from getting locked up. He did it to stay plugged in with the FBI. That's how he found out about McNulty and them running their passports and shyt. Remember when dude threw his phone in the water after the Greek sent him the message? That was right before they killed Sabbotka because the FBI let him know that he was about to snitch.

He turned informer on Marlo. I like Bodie and everything, he's in my top 3 favourite characters. But the rules of the game on The Wire were pretty simple, anyone involved in selling drugs who turned state's witness got killed same as Wallace and Orlando and Frank Sobotka

I felt Bodie's frustration though. He was sick of Marlo. Got pushed off his corner onto some low budget strip, got forced to start slinging for Marlo after he built his new spot up, Marlo put his boy in a vacant (although Kevin got himself offed), and basically had him living on his knees.

The Co-Op was a facade. It was just Joe trying to consolidate power and take control over the entire Baltimore drug trade without actually going to war. He was really in control and Marlo saw it. Plus all the sheisty shyt he was doing like putting Omar on that card game. He definitely had it coming.
