Above the fray.
Also can somebody explain to me The Devonne situation she was sent to get the drop on Marlo but failed like how did Marlo pick that shyt up so quick?
Chris is an expert at setting people up, which makes him an expert in spotting set ups.

They were monitoring Devonne. They spotted a truck set up along the path where she normally walks. She stopped by the truck as if to give the passengers a signal.

Chris knew that the dudes in the truck were working with her to line up Marlo.

When she finishes walking by, Chris' car drives by them and he shoots into the truck...killing a passenger and wounding Avon.

The question is how they know where Devonne lived to get at her.

1. She either gave Marlo her address (offscreen)

2. Or they had a separate tail on her (offscreen)

Shows like The Wire don't waste screentime on futile details anyway.

3. It's really not hard to get someone's address....even in 2004

There are a few instances of different characters saying the same lines in different situations, but I noted a while back that there are 3-5 instances of a character saying a line, sharing a scene with another character, who then says the opposite line. I played myself by not writing down the examples, but I do remember the first one I spotted.

in hotel making getaway after being tipped off that cops/feds closing in .......Vondas "They know only my name, and my name is not my name"

in lockup after hearing that his goons kept street slander against him from his attention Marlo "My name is my name"

Just realizing that Cheese is Randy’s dad makes Randy’s hustling candy stand out more....man is like a little prop joe
same last name...............implied that he's related to Prop Joe somehow, but I'm thinking his mom had that last name. If he had Cheese's last name from birth certificate........city would have tracked Cheese down for custody. I think.

how is cheese randys dad?
David Simon said it when he spoke at USC. They never outright say it on the show but it’s insinuated throughout. Same last name and Cheese and even the character Randy’s description on the HBO website they say his father is a hustler on the Eastside of Baltimore.

'The Wire': David Simon schools USC

Regardless, Simon has no regrets. He even made a point of exonerating HBO for "The Wire's" shorter run this season by explaining that if they truly needed more time to wrap up their story (which initially included the revelation that Randy is indeed Cheese Wagstaff's son), HBO would have provided it. But he feels the tighter story is stronger for it. In Simon's view, "The Wire," its characters, and to an extent the complex issues plaguing Baltimore itself have ultimately been served.

Exactly.

People complain about season 5, but fail realize that they only had 10 episodes to work with.

Imagine the other seasons being condensed to 10 episodes. The Wire wouldn't be looked at the same way. Every scene in every episode of every season was "pertinent"

Probably nothing, but Cheese said to Chris that if they get at Omar he wanted to be part of it too, yet they never brought him along. Either Chris forgot or they just didn't see him as part of the team. It's kind of hinted that they only tolerated him but never respected him like that.
