Just because you are black doesn't mean you can just have any mask you like.

For, example a white Murican CAC who doesn't know where in Europe his ancestors came from so decides to adopt the culture of Italy when he's blond and most likely Dutch. You see, the point I'm trying to make is that just because you slightly look like your from somewhere doesn't mean you are. I didn't say you can't buy the mask and respect the culture but just to buy it just because you watched a film is very insincere and no better than the CACs who sold it to you in the first place.

The thread title reads, "Thinking of copping this African mask". Why would you need to ask strangers about something that's of your own culture?

Breh just wants to buy a mask just because he can not because it actually relates to him -- that's the difference. You can't just buy and claim something yet know nothing about it.

Also, I know my history and my people never lost our roots.

Shout out to Tunde Dada in East Orange NJ when it was open.They used to sell West African art.

I have family members who are from that region. When they went back to visit tthey'd go with full suitcases and return with empty ones. I used to give them a few bills, ask them to bring me back stuff from street artists/vendors.

We cut the middle man(Tunde Dada) right out of the equation.

Yeah, I love Black art! Got some in my house and looking for more. Only thing is...I don't want too much art because I don't want my house to be cluttered wih a bunch of artifacts. Hopefully, that mask will be available when you get your tax return..
