I'm hoping they spend the money because he fills so many holes. I think their hiring of bvp showed they might be trending towards spending because he is about competing now and not going for the rebuild.

Why are we trading all these guys for a closer and an aging Cano? Also, according to advanced stats, McNeil was as good as Cano was in 2018 and will likely have a similar 2019(3-ish WAR).
