The problem with rebuilding and tearing everything down is that you are not guaranteed that even half of the prospects will pan out. Houston got lucky as did Chicago by having Kris Bryant fall to them when Houston passed on him for a pitcher who has quit the game of baseball after being DFAd by the Phillies.

Contending is a combination of both spending and developing talent. As much as I like David Wright, he needs to call it a career which would take his money off of the books.

I will reiterate this, you trade Jake and/or Noah and the fanbase will riot. Performance aside, the Mets have not contended in a long time outside of 2015 because of the Wilpons. If they are prepared to go through another 2011-Spring 2015 phase where the ballpark was empty, that's the only way I see this happening.

Insurance is covering a very large percentage of Wright’s contract. His contract is not a detriment to this team. The Red Sox are paying almost 100 million to Castillo, Panda, and Hanley and none are on the team. Big market teams should be able to operate around 1 to 2 bad contracts.

I trade BOTH DeGrom and Syndergaard. You guys are thinking emotionally, the Mets aren’t contending any time soon. You’re obviously trading for prospects, but at that point you’re picking from teams top 3 talents. Only people I keep is Nimmo, Rosario, and Conforto. And even then I’m listening in on them.

I think if we’re going to rebuild, we should trade everyone 27 or older for the best packages, then try to contend 2-3 years from now. Try to extend Conforto and Noah to deals that buy out 1-2 years of their FA years, so they’ll be a part of our next run 2-3 years from now.

I wouldn’t be opposed to trading Noah/Conforto, since we don’t have any top prospects coming through the pipeline.

Peter Alonso is a beast he’s gonna be our 1B but yeah not much else then that

Thinking emotionally? Sure. The fanbase isn't a young one. We're not going to sit through another rebuild that guarantees nothing. If it weren't for Cespedes in 2015, the Mets would still be mired in a perpetual rebuild.

I may be thinking emotionally, but what my emotions tell me are facts too tho. Noah and Jake are still young as hell. And we’re NOT far from contending at all.

What contracts are handicapping is? We’re not locked into anyone long term are we? 2-3 good signings and we’re good again. The fans won’t stand getting rid of Noah and/or deGrom. They just won’t. They’ve just gotta open up their checkbook.

But the Wilpon’s won’t spend on a big market level, so it’s all for moot. Sure we’re a few pieces away, but those pieces cost money, and it’s hard to sign FA’s when our payroll is on a mid market level.

There are some gems in the minors but you can't expect them all to pan out plus a few of em are a few years away. We definitely need to improve a lot tho. Would love to see Desmond Lindsay (2nd Rd 2015 draft) somehow figure it out after injuries and being inconsistent have derailed his progress. The folks that could come soon and contribute are probably Smith (not giving up on, he's young), Alonso and Peterson.

If Guillorme can become a decent hitter, :blessed:

Yeah so I spent Thurs to Sunday in fukkin Milwaukee Wisconsin watching all 4 games within the first 5 rows between the dish and the Mets dugout....

I was a little worried about our manager and team but optimistic. Watching close up like that, I'm extremely concerned. This is going to get worse before it gets better brehs
