25 - 25 record, take a picture, cause this is the last time we'll see this team at .500 until next season.

With the world cup coming I doubt I'll be watching this disaster of a baseball team.

:francis:

edit: oh and Mickey Calloway is begging to get fired when this season is over, the honey moon is officially over.

The honeymoon was over weeks ago. He is not a manager at this level. While today's game is not on him, his incompetence is mind blowing. This weekend alone, he contributed to two losses with his decision making. He doesn't have a feel for the game. This is what happens when you let numbers guys get their feet in the door.

At the end of the day, this is all on Alderson. He has to be fired at the end of the season or even this Summer if the Mets are clearly out of it.

For those of you who are hellbent on a rebuild, he cannot be the one who oversees it. We know the Wilpons are cheap. However, the money he has been given has been improperly spent. Bruce on a three year deal, Vargas on a two year deal and Ramos making 9.2M. With the draft coming up, he cannot be responsible for making the sixth overall pick. While Nimmo is beginning to pan out, he selected him over Jose Fernandez. Gavin Cecchini, 12th overall in 2012, has been lapped by Rosario.

Agreed 100% Sandy absolutely cannot oversee the rebuild. It'll be John Ricco, and we don't know how much of a Sandy disciple he is.

If the plan is for Sandy to bounce after this year, he should step down gracefully no later than June 1st. Let Ricco move forward and trade every single person on the team either by the trading deadline or during the offseason. Right now we can get multiple pieces for deGrom alone. Syndergaard would bring multiple pieces as well. You can get talent for Conforto and the others as well.

This "contention window" if you want to call it that, is closed.

I think if we’re going to rebuild, we should trade everyone 27 or older for the best packages, then try to contend 2-3 years from now. Try to extend Conforto and Noah to deals that buy out 1-2 years of their FA years, so they’ll be a part of our next run 2-3 years from now.

I wouldn’t be opposed to trading Noah/Conforto, since we don’t have any top prospects coming through the pipeline.

The problem with rebuilding and tearing everything down is that you are not guaranteed that even half of the prospects will pan out. Houston got lucky as did Chicago by having Kris Bryant fall to them when Houston passed on him for a pitcher who has quit the game of baseball after being DFAd by the Phillies.

Contending is a combination of both spending and developing talent. As much as I like David Wright, he needs to call it a career which would take his money off of the books.

I will reiterate this, you trade Jake and/or Noah and the fanbase will riot. Performance aside, the Mets have not contended in a long time outside of 2015 because of the Wilpons. If they are prepared to go through another 2011-Spring 2015 phase where the ballpark was empty, that's the only way I see this happening.

I agree with you 100%, But we’re too dumb as fans to carry on with a boycott. :mjcry:

Um, yeah. But you're kind of at a place where you have to think about it. Your season would have a little more hope if guys like Rosario and Conforto and Smith were panning out.

From a youth standpoint, all you can really hang your hat on so far is Nimmo. The reason why the Yankees enjoyed last year wasn't just the winning. It was that there was a new youngin puttin in work every time. By and large that's not happening.

Rosario shouldn’t even be in the league right now imo. He seems overmatched 80% of the times that I see him. Conforto’s coming back from I hurt so you w gotta be patient with him. Smith can’t decide if he wants to stay in baseball shape or not, and that’s why Alonzo’s about to lap his ass in the minors.

Noah is still young. So is Jake. There’s no reason they shouldn’t be part of the rebuild.
